I ended up going with SEM upholstery paint as recommended from a bunch of you here at Peachparts. I found a supplier locally, so I was able to determine in person the color "LT BUCKSKIN" was the best match for my 8331 cream interior. I hope this helps someone in the future. ![]() Prior to spraying, I vacuumed the heck out of the parcel shelf and brushed it with a nylon carpet brush. I then taped the plastic speaker shrouds as well as the opening for the first aid kit to protect from overspray. ![]() Then I sprayed 4 light coats allowing 10 minutes in between each coat, also brushing the carpet to one direction before each coat. I think the final result is a lot better than before, and it matches the interior parts very nicely. It cost me 15$, and I would recommend it to any of you thinking of trying this out. ![]() I'll get a picture of it back in the car as soon as it is all back together. Anyways, I appreciate the recommendation from you folks above. Thanks for reading, Sonny |

I used SEM paint on the interior of my 85 w126 including spraying their Colorcoat paint on that shelf and the carpet. I followed their directions except for the first stage of cleaning. I used a solution recommended by the folks who mix SEM paint here in Greenville. A bit of Ivory Liquid, a little ammonia and water in a spray bottle and scrub that panel with a clean rag. If you don't remove the oil residue from diesel, smokers and other contaminates the paint won't stick.
The gray carpet in my car had faded to yellow and I didn't expect much. To my delight it turned out exactly the same color as the vinyl and plastic. I chose a slightly darker color for this project because I felt it would be better with a black exterior than the original gray. That shelf turned out just as well. You must brush the carpet and that shelf between coats to ensure than the paint works it's way around the fibers and the fibers don't stick together and clump. You won't have to worry about light vs heavy coats of paint by the time you get from one end to the other it's time to use the brush. I used an old hair brush after cleaning it with the ammonia solution. https://www.semproducts.com/manage/html/public/content/techsheets/SEM%20RAP-1%20Training%20Manual.pdf
