Thanks for clearing that up, I removed the overflow valve from the order.

Don't forget to grease the screw and threads on the spring compressor.

The 60x fuel system has no primer handle and is designed for the air to be simply pushed out through the drilled orifice OFV.

What would be the advantage of going to a non drilled valve other than a crutch for a weak lift pump / reliving the good old 240D days when the car runs out of fuel?

With this injection pump is there a way to look at rack position and / or rack command? ( using a volt meter / duty cycle / amp meter ) If rack command / position is delivering low fuel ( IE normal ) , I'd look to non fuel tank type issues. If the rack command / position is max fuel , I'd look to fuel delivery issues.
As far as I know, the the IP wiring looks sealed off, no connectors or weather pack seals to T pin into. I would have to cannabilize that harness.
If I had a Xentry scanner this would be 5000x times easier.

It's not worth it checking both ends, the exhaust manifolds would have to come off. It's a solid piece of pipe.

The bolts are in the most horrid spots.

In my case it was a band-aid for air ingress issues, even with a brand new OE drilled OFV. I never found the air ingress source, but the spring style valve kept the rack full of fuel when sat. I freely admit it was a band-aid fix, but it worked to solve the problem I was having. I have the brand new OE drilled OFV mentioned above installed on my 350SD with 0 issues.

Got it. My fix is an inline " looks like a fuel filter " universal fuel pump wired to turn on as soon as the glow plugs are in operation, it also runs with the key in the run position. I've got a 3 cyl Kubota on a ride on sweeper that had intermittent long crank, now it is a glow and instant start.

I put these pumps get put on other small to medium industrial diesels as primary lift pumps. If I had an old decrepit on the road diesel I'd do the same.

As in a molded connector or just a hood over it?

You could access wires at the ECU but would need a wiring diagram, but you would need a wiring diagram anyway.

True, I forgot about that.

Just did a 3 can diesel purge and filter change on a hot engine, underload at full RACK, nothing, no change whatsoever. The diesel purge didn't even get dirty, not even in the slightest. Clean fuel system.

Engine didn't get any quieter on the purge, which tells me my engine is in very good shape. Engine never smoked or shook to begin with.

Now, I have no choice but to rebuild the lift pump. That's going to take me all day.

If lift pump rebuild doesn't do it, it's time to buy a Xentry a get to the bottom of it.

picture of my old W124 blocked tank strainer.

It caused the car to behave like a sloth. Once cleaned along with the tank. It had really good acceleration.

I essentially bypassed the tank strainer during the during the diesel purge.
I also bypassed any potential for clogged fuel hoses and lines.

The car behaved the same. So it's something else.

What's with you? I don't even go over 3900rpms anymore when driving, that's pretty much my redline.

You need a scan tool that can read what's going on in the ECU and TCU. From what you described I think you have a transmission problem or the throttle position sensor is bad.

When I said "That's pretty much my redline " i'm saying I don't take it over that rev range because it quickly looses power.

It can go over that, but it pointless. It will be a while before I get Xentry.
