Insurance companies know facts. The facts are that a newer Mercedes with ABS and airbags is going to cost them less in payouts. The fact is that sheel metal on a '74 240D isn't any thicker than the sheet metal on a W126 S-class. The fact is that an airbag is going to lower the medical bills for the person behind it. The fact is that ABS helps people avoid accidents in the first place. There is no way the a '74 240D is in the same ballpark of safety as a newer W123 or W126 model. |

I have experience with 25 plus Georgia vehicle issues and this is very typical. And all the surrounding states know it. What is actually your title is the Registration slip or card. Thats all Georgia will give them after they get 25 plus. So it's advisable (for your state) to not only get that and have them sign it over, and an Original Bill of Sale. No problems then. I have bought a few old Vespa Scooters over there and run into this myself. The fact the OP has an old title is just a novelty... and perhaps and interesting document to have.
Looks a splendid car to me.

That's not what you said before, the car might be registered in your name but it's titled in the previous owners name.
I think eBay is the perfect venue for you to sell such a fine motorcar, and with your charming attitude, people will surely be falling over themselves to bid. ![]() |

Peter you're full of it, thinkin this '74 240D will cost more to insure than say an '86 300SD. Valdosta dude, good luck with the sale - it looks to be excellent vehicle and 115/114 cars are hot ticket right now among vintage car fans. Having service records means alot, specially at proving mileage on 5 digit odometer. My only beef with the car is lack of sunroof otherwise I'd bid on it myself. |

The reason I have the title is simple now...I went down the DMV again, surrendered the original title, paid $18 and now the new GA title is in my name. The only reason I did not title it(just registered it) in my name in the beginning was to maintain it's originality but the DMV just made a few copies of the original for me. Anyway...I have an interested fellow out of Atlanta right now so I'm holding off on ebay. Thanks to the people who have added good input. To the other tire kickers...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't respond. Thanks, Jason |

if you want a reaction out of me...you got it.
you're garbage. I'm disgusted by how wrong this thread has gone. I was simply trying to sell an older MB. If my price was high then people should have said something. I can't believe how many people have had nothing good to say here. Yes it's the internet and yes you have freedom of speech but damn...can't a guy sell a car. Anyway...I'm done with this forum. I appreciate the few that IM'd me and Rick for test driving it. My father in law and I drove it to the park today and he loved it. Moderator(s) please delete this thread and my account. Regards, Jason |
