B&M transmission/shifter upgrades for Mercedes

A friend of mine who works for B&M Racing mentioned to me that they are considering developing products for our cars. For those of you unfamiliar with B&M, they are an industry leader in transmission and shifter upgrades for sport and racing applications. I told him that there were indeed many Mercedes owners looking for reasonably priced, effective performance upgrades for their cars. I'm posting this as a feeler, to see if I can demonstrate the level of interest that exists. Who among you would consider purchasing these upgrades? I know I'll be first in line if B&M releases anything for my E500, but even owners of less performance-oriented models could benefit from potential B&M products. Please speak up with your opinions.

Boy,,,, I don't know. I like the actual shifter in the cars I have, and the performance of the transmissions have never dissappointed me so far. As far as I know there are ways of playing with the smoothness of the shifts in the trannys already. I think I would pass on messing with stock.

yhliem,

I think what you're asking for cannot be attained - the "notchiness" is internal to the tranny, and a short-shift kit will only accentuate that particular characteristic. I could be off, but I'm pretty confident in this response. Sorry amigo

well...Delsing Motorsport (no longer around) produced aluminum shifter bushings for the 16v tranny. these required some modification to the shifter itself, but some of the 190Revolution boys have the upgrade and it apparently takes care of the notchiness to some degree.

I haven't pulled apart my shifter to explore the feasibility of this upgrade (ie. sort out fact from fiction) but it might be worth exploring?

as a matter of preference:

makes sense to tune with MB parts or reputable MB tuner parts/program

that aside- don't see a need to mess with MB trans/shifter OE engineering (never had one fail or appear sub-par)

....higher performance is required?- perhaps its time to step up to a totally engineered higher performing balanced vehicle platform (imho)

ysliem-

I don't really understand how a bushing that's more dense would reduce notchiness...hmmmm

But thanks for the post, that was news to me (does anyone know the folks from the former Delsing? They produced some nice bits, to include camber arms I covet...)
