Water behind drivers seat in '88 560 sl

I keep finding water under the carpet behind the drivers seat in my 1988 560 sl. The front mats are damp...but not soaked like the rear mats. Both sides get wet but there is much more water behind the drivers seat. I read about clogged drains by the hood springs...but everything looks ok to me. I have seen that other MB models have had similar problems but I have not seen any other 107's with this problem. Can anyone offer any possible solutions? Thanks for your help and Merry Christmas.
