Need advise on remote locking control transmitter
The range on my remote locking control transmitter appears to be getting worse. I can't say for sure how far the range is supposed to be on a 2000 ML 430, but it should be more than 5 feet from the side of the vehicle. I have changed the battery in the transmitter, and the GPS/Radio works fine, so I have ruled out the antenna as the signal receiving problem. Does anyone know if there are any other areas of the vehicle responsible for receiving the transmitter signal which I could check?

The antenna for the remote unlocking is in the bottom of the fusebox.

So then there is a chance that the antenna may be loose or have unplugged, resulting in the deminished signal?
