outlook links
Med,
There are a few Outlook links if you use that as your mail system. It can transfer contacts, meetings, notes / memos, and to-do items. You can also transfer email but that is not a fit for me. I use this as a consultant at client sites. I get many meeting requests a week. A quick sync up - similar to the palm desktop - and all the info on both systems is up to date. For me the meeting detail information like locations, dial in info, and agenda info can be transferred. I also track my hours on my calendar so re-syncing at home as well gives me a record of my billable hours and expenses. I got a samsung I-330 palm phone about 2 years ago. It is good but not great at being both a palm and a phone. The screen is a bit small. There is some good integration of the palm and phone. Go to the address book, select an entry, tap it once and the phone will ask if you want to dial that number. The touch screen is also the phone dial pad and is hard to do accurately with a finger vs. the stylus. Chuck |

sync incantations
Med,
My samsung and computer occasionally decide not to talk. I have found the following to help.... - reboot the computer to re-establish the USB link to hotsync line. My wife has a palm with the serial link. If she syncs it confuses the hotsync application even though both cradles are plugged in all the time. It seems the first user wins until reboot. - my phone comm link will sometimes not talk. I remove the battery for 5 seconds and that resets it. Both signs of poorly written / implemented networking approaches. Chuck |

I took the plunge on the treo 600 thanks to MTI's recomendation. I inherited a Sony Clie and found that it was often left on the last desk or car hood that I was using it on: Conclusion a phone first pda second unit which led me to the Treo. The HP looks enticing but its just a wee bit too big and the Treo was just right.
The main function I use is the calulator, between buying/selling/construction I always get stuck with the complex cyphering by my partners. One function that I would like to use is the camera to email to I can say "hey look at this chit" without having to describe it(see pitbull post). Idea's? |
