The expensive parking ticket that I got also had no fine listed. Instead, there was a mandatory court appearance at which the judge would set the fine. This is because it exceeded 25 mph over the limit.

Fortunately, it wasn't 30 mph over the 30 mph limit, which would have been an immediate arrest. As it was, I didn't want to show up in court, and the attorney assured me that it wouldn't be necessary.

He worked with the prosecuting attorney, and they worked out a deal. The judgment showed up in the mail, and I paid a $115 parking ticket. No points.

This works in the St. Louis area quite well, but not so well elsewhere.

I topped out 4th gear going up out of Georgetown a few years back, racing a turbo Honda (it was way way back in my rear view) on my way to fight a ticket the previous summer, and my speedo read 135. I checked the RPM with my tire size and gear ratio, and I was actually only doing 125.
