Here's a question: If flag burning is legal and a person is burning a flag and I stop the burning with a bucket of water can I be prosecuted for interfering with his free speech or can he be prosecuted for getting in the way of my water while demonstrating my free speech?

I wonder what would happen if you burned a Jerry Garcia flag on the front lawn of the San Fran city hall.

This amendment has been voted on six times since the Supreme Court decision of 1989, in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 and now 2005. To stress this as an important issue is ridiculous. There were 14 reported flag burnings in 2001, according to the 'Citizen's Flag Alliance', three in 2004. Why the urgency?

Comparisons between destruction of the US flag and the Koran aren't valid - National symbol vs. religious text. Or, if you wish, items sacred to 296 million people (US citizens) vs. 1.5 billion Muslims.

Yesterday Chinese industrialists bid $18.5 billion for Unocal Oil. Day before the Chinese offered to purchase Maytag for $1.3 billion. Last month IBM's personal computer division was sold to the Chinese. I've heard so little about this transfer of industry to the Chinese from our government. Surely the must have an opinion. Or were they too busy straightening their lapel flag pins?

Our Country....our flag...

the Koran deserves no protections the lefties want to actively give it while on the other hand screwing the Christian majorities rights.

How many American flags are burned annually in the United States anyway? Is there a serious risk of con"flag"uration? Seems to me that most American flags are being burned overseas . . . so perhaps trade sanctions should be issued against countries that allow Old Glory to be torched . . .

If this dumb-assed amendment gets passed, I'm gonna burn a flag a day for the rest of my life. Stupid mofos think that a symbol is more important than an idea.

............never thought you would get so aggravated over a mindless issue such as this one.
I'm far more concerned about one of these local yokels taking my house away for a strip mall.......................

You will probably need to wait quite some time until all the states get a chance to ratify or reject it.
