I haven't seen a roster so I don't know who is coming back. The Kings just have to get healthy and stay that way and they will make things interesting.

For all our americamn friends who get lousy hockey coverage on their sports networks... www.tsn.ca Their web site info is very accurate and very up to date, you'll find out who's been signed from all teams. You'll also see on the right side of the page a place where you can find out who's signed, the team cap position, and the restricted free agents still unsigned. Handy stuff, BTW we should be 2-3 weeks till training camps open up...

i get great coverage of the flyers but not much else hockey-wise. did you see espn.com still has their 'nhl' link beneath stuff like 'x-games' and 'tennis'. espn really sucks. nhl.com is o.k. thanks for the tsn link. its going right on the favorites!

Lindros at 1.55 mil + bonii is not a bad deal especially since the cap limited leafs get to excercise the major injury clause that will allow them to defer the bonus dollars to next year's cap, this is the big reason they also signed Allison. Playing 1/2hr from his home should be good for him if he can keep his folks out of his head. He'll have something to prove for sure.
It really is too bad for the leafs that they will play the Habs 8 times this year, since they just re-signed the 23yr old, 6'4", 237lb monster Komisarek to patrol the blueline that Lindros likes to cross with his head down. That puts Eric's knoggin at shoulder level for a kid who knows how get position on a forward. 450+ lbs at 50 km/h closing speed makes for one severely spongy melon. |

Ouch!

I feel bad for him now where I used to fear and hate (with a small h) him. I hope he can play out his career injury free and contribute his talent to a league that could use it.

Kasparitus is a cheap shot artist and so is Scott Stevens. Stevens was head hunting when he took out Lindros. If you ever see that clip, it's obvious what Stevens was doin, when you don't go for the puck at all and you have ur forearm up, you are intending to injure. When you check, you check with your shoulders, you don't come at a guy with your forearm.
Furthermore, Lindros is a big risk, but so is peter forsberg. Look at how many games he played last year and what his contract is for this coming season, its at 5.5M. Lindros is a bargain at 1.55M, the risks are high, but the rewards are even higher.

It really is his size that has been his downfall as it made him play that way. He never had to keep his head up as a kid, because kids would bounce off him because he was so much bigger and you don't learn how to hit till much later. He could go anywhere on the ice he wanted because there was no danger to him in cutting across the middle of the ice with his head down. While he was playing last season he still put up good numbers but he didn't control the tempo of the game the way he used to.
That reckless abandon killed many bright careers early, Bobby Orr is the most prevalent to my mind, he took many a knee because he was always moving and beating his opponents with speed, same idea with Eric. LeClair is suffering from the same trouble, all those years standing in the crease taking two handed shaft in the small iof the back have taken their toll. (nice he won't be biting the habs on the a$$ anymore though) Gretzky lasted so long as a small guy by not being somewhere that would get him killed. Bobby was the most talented, Gretz was the smartest. |

Domi will protect Lindros
Leafs need a few more players before they can contend with Philly. Bob Clarke has done a great job under the new agreement. Ferguson had better get his act together soon. Although Lindros is back at home, and is a great move.

Leafs need to resign their RFA and add a gritty defencemen like Brendan Witt and I think they can compete with anyone in the East. I've read rumours about Anson Carter coming to Toronto. Imagine the possibilities...
Sundin, Oneil, Carter Tucker, Allison, Lindros Kilgar,Antropov, Domi Ponikarovsky,Stajan, Belak? Kaberle, Mccabe Klee,Khavanov Berg, Pilar I'm getting ready for the stanley cup parade already!

Good news on our front, the Captain Koivu's back, more heart than some teams could boast, shame about the glass knees. When he's on though, man can that guy change direction, probably what killing his knees though. Rest of the teams getting bigger maybe they'll give him some room to move. |
