Should Pot be Decriminalized?

I think if alcohol is considered acceptable in moderation, so should pot. It certainly is not as intoxicating as booze, and I think it has alot of stress relieving effects, as well as medicinal value for many ailments.

Sign over the licensing to a major pharmaceutical company, and it'll happen in no time.

Should pot be decriminalized? Of course. Will it happen in America any time soon? Of course not. Too many politicians get to expand their powers and too many people are getting rich off the War on (Some) Drugs.

F**k statistics.

Why does the gov get to say what you put in your body? It's your body, not theirs. Want to smoke weed and eat Twinkies? Fine with me, but you better have a job because I ain't supporting your pot & Twinkie, and your sorry Nintendo butt.

Big money corporations aren't lobbying for it.

No -- clue me in. I was actually thinking about the recent finding of "no medicinal value" and the obvious reasons behind that ridiculous conclusion.

Yep, I'm for legalizing it. In Canada, it's still illegal but the laws aren't really enforced if you're smoking it casually. In Vancouver, there are areas where you can buy it openly and the cops basically turn a blind eye. There's a nude beach appropriately called 'Wreck Beach', where it's like a mini-Amsterdam. You can buy chocolate-coated shrooms, blueberry flavored pot, beer, etc. You have to endure some nude older men but I suppose that's what the shrooms are for.

Hypothetically speaking, I knew this guy who looked a lot like me, only younger, and he once smoked a joint on the front steps of our Parliament, in full view of the Peace Tower.

Peace, man.

if the government ever got its claws on regulating it, you and I both know the quality would drop and the price would shoot sky high (no pun intended).

If it was legal and regulated by the gument

Just think of all the tax revenue! Shoot, you could fund all sorts of gument programs, maybe even social security!

Nope.

Does the quality of alcoholic beverages suffer merely because it is legally restricted to those 21+?... Nope. Why would pot by any differernt?

The price would also DROP. The price of ALL illegal drugs is inflated by enormous margins, BECAUSE it is illegal and is a black-market item, just as the price of alcohol rose during prohibition.

If it were legitimized, the price would drop, and the government would have a HUGE new source of tax revenue.

We would also stop incarcerating thousands of non-violent, harmless people whose only "crime" was being in possession of a naturally-occurring PLANT.

There would be no losers, only winners.

Ever see stoners with a bad case of the munchies in a grocery store? I have...If I owned the store I would have been ticked off...seen them swipe a lot of stuff. And like boozers they are going to drive...and unless you live in the middle of nowhere impared reactions will lead to an accident...many accidents in fact.
