Kind of collect these wheels. I have a set of Bundt's, two complete sets of 15 hole's for the W126's so 10. and 4 of the Bello's on the SDL.
So I have 18 wheels for two cars.

Typically eBay sides with sellers but sellers who sell below cost and make it up through S&H cut eBay out of commission. eBay might not care until earnings go south.

Two wheels are trash. Straight to the dumpster. One wheel is perfect (the spare wheel, naturally). One wheel is acceptable with rash that can be polished out. Sometimes you eat the bear.........sometimes the bear eats you.

I sell on eBay but always disclose any shipping info in my sale ahead of time. I also state "Local Pick-ups" welcomed with no extra charge, as they save me the trouble and expense of materials, packing, going to the post office, ect. I do state a time at my convenience, usually in the early evening. If some one isn't tryng to make his money on the shipping or hiding a poorly described product, I don't see why they should mind. Now some women sellers don't want strange guys showing up at their door and that I can understand if she doesn't permit local pick-ups.

From eBay's eBay encourages sellers to clearly describe the item and terms of shipping and delivery in their listings to avoid possible confusion. The buyer stated what the shipping/handling charge was. He offered no option for local pickup. Sounds pretty clear to me...you asked him to change his terms. A shipping and handling fee can cover the seller's reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item. You suggest his shipping charge is $45 higher than actual cost. For the amount of time it would take to package them and ship, I'd say that's a reasonable handling charge. And it's perfectly legitimate for a seller to expect to profit from this - "handling" is labor, and the seller is entitled to a "reasonable" amount per eBay's terms. You asked him to give up labor charges he wished to include. When a bid is placed, the bidder is entering into an agreement with the seller to purchase the item, which most often means incurring reasonable shipping charges that may also include handling fees. This is the kicker. You entered into an agreement for which shipping and handling was part of the terms. Again...you chose to ask the seller to change the terms of the auction, after it was over. Terms that you agreed to by placing your bid. He's not obligated to accomodate you - consider yourself lucky he didn't tell you to pound sand, and accept the shipment you agreed to by bidding. And if you refused, he could have reported you as a non-paying bidder, and been in the right. As was pointed out already, the proper course of action, if you wanted to pickup locally - you should have asked before bidding if it wasn't stated in the terms. |

I remember a long, long time ago I won a new Blaupunkt stereo off ebay from a guy who was local to me. I emailed him immidately that I wanted to come pick it up or meet him somewhere rather than pay his $25 shipping.. he said you sure can pick it up, but I still want $25 shipping charge. I left him some negitive feedback he'll never forget. Needless to say, I didn't buy it.
