Sounds like a really neat little car! How smooth is the 5 cylinder?

A trans made in Japan is a good thing, it probably will never break!

Black is a job to keep clean, but they sure look good when they are clean.

This is a VERY respectable middle class automobile anywhere in Europe - spot on for the gas prices these days. It looks great in your driveway!!
It was a quick jaunt, just a drive up the coast to test it out...

It will be hard to keep it clean, I've owned a black car before and I really didn't want another black one...but I was outvoted by she who must be obeyed. She has two votes to my one single vote

That's us, a respectable middle class family.

Tha nks for the compliment Jim...with the Rabbit purc`hase it just means that my dream SL goes back to the back burner. Well, I DO love my kids...they are the ones who will get to choose our rest home!

We are hoping she will, she used to love the old Rabbits, but she was of course too young to drive back then.

The engine and the tranny combo are very smooth. The VW 5 cylinder feels smoother than the Volvo's 5 cylinder.

Hey, your dreams dont have to go on the back burner. I have been following the pricing trends of the SL. For a while, they have not decreased, nor have they increased, as in the case of my 1996 SL600. That is good for us who already own them, and those who are looking to buy one. I have noticed that the early ones still hold their value well, as I have seen mint 92's and 93's go for 15,000. However, I have seen ones in Excellent condition, but they have 150,000 miles or more going for around 8,500. I think that you may be able to swing your car, you just need to get approval from the "higher power."

Hehehe, its my dads car, but my mom steals it when he or I isnt driving it. She says it makes her look and feel younger. See if you could convince your wife by telling her it will make her look good, and stylish when you drive it.

Here is a Rabbit review from a Canadian car magazine.

Apparently, a lot of the items that are extra-charge items in Canada are included in the sticker price here int he US (which is lower than the Canadian sticker price). Things lke heated seats, in-dash 6 CD changer, etc. are included in the US car's standard sticker price.

Why are Canadians getting hosed?

Anyhow, here is the review:

That looks like a pretty decent little car. I just hope they offer some more engine choices.

The 2.0TDI or 2.0T FSI would be nice.
