Elian Gonzales Redux
Back during the whole Elian fiasco, the judges who ruled against the Miami relatives made it a point to state, over and over, that the interests and desires of a parent should always be given the utmost respect and consideration by the courts. This was the same line trumpted by Janet and Bill when they ordered Federalagents to seizetheboy and pack him off to Castro's Cuba.
The courts, of course, paid no attention to: 1. Their own policy of intervening on behalf of a child whenever the parents' choices/desires seem to be against the child's best interest; 2. The fact that Elian's father was an absentee father, who only paid attntion to the kid when the kid became a pawn in Castro's game of brinksmanship; and 3. The fact that Elian's mother, his legal guardian after the dad left the household, obviously wanted her boy to live in the US free of Communism. She, in fact, gave up her life to bring him here. Now comes word that a judge has overruled the parents desires/wishes for their son's medical treatment. The story linked below is not final (an appeals court has ruled that the boy does not have to go to the doctors as ordered by the lower court judge). It just seems hypocritical that when the government wants to take your kid away from you, they act swiftly and in total disregard of the parents' rights. In the Waco, Texas incident, the courts ruled that the parents had no right raising their children pursuant to David Koresh's (sp?) teachings (I know, Koresh was alleged to be a pedophile who had sex with young girls). But in that one instance the courts had no problem trumping the parents' right and sending the FBI to take the kids away...with the results that we now know. In the case of Starchild Abraham Cherrix (the kid with Hodgkin's Disease) the courts, again, have no problem trampling over the parents' rights to choose medical care for their child. The Clinton-kangaroo courts and the Clinton-monkey-AG had no problems bending over backwards to give an absentee father rights that courts routinely deny parents in other situations. I guess Castro had his hands so far up Janet's and Bill's asses that the two of them could not help but to do their master's bidding and ship the boy back to Cuba. Here is the story on Starchild Abraham Cherrix: http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2006-07-11-herbal-remedy_x.htm
