It's a stereotypical view of Republicans from someone who is obviously not a Republican. The same viewpoint could easily be stereotypically applied to many Democrats. It's really kinda non-sensical. I also cought a flavor of sarcasm although I couldn't be sure.

And if MM told me anything, including the quantity of my eyes, I'd be a damn fool not to verify it from another reputable source - like a mirror.

Exclamation *** Even The Best Can Break... ***

Hey folks!

When under pressure, whether it be from blogs, postings or people following you around-shadowing your every move, you're bound to "blow your cool" without a whole lot of provocation. Seems like Allen had his fill of the tag-a-long. His problem was letting his mouth get ahead of his brain. Something that happens to ALL OF US.

All we have to do is read what WE write...when we find ourselves under attack, we respond w/belittling names directed back at our attackers. Nothing too surprising about that.

BUT remember, when someone we hold above all others stumbles, we all suffer the pain of the ensuing fall.

When Jesse Jackson called Jews "himmies" (sp?) or Jimmy "The Greek" made "off-color" jokes (pardon the pun), we all laughed and said stuff like "Consider the source" or "...par for the course..." or something like that. Do you remember the last time you told an "off-colored" joke or made a remark about someone that wasn't appropriate? Did you look around and check EVERYTHING to be sure there wasn't a microphone, video camera or an "acquaintance" nearby that didn't have you in their "cross-hairs?"

Did that make what was said by those people make the world any better or worse? Probably not. But, it made good "fodder" for the late-night comedians and great editorial cartoons.

So will Allen's slip.

And the world will still continue to turn.

I tend to agree. In light of the recent McKinney comments and various other comments from the black national caucus and others it's clear that there is a double standard at work here. Obviously the Democratic members of Congress can say many more deragatory things that denigrate entire members of cultures or races than can Republicans. It's just one of those unspoken understandings.

I'm still not even sure what a Maccaca is...

A Maccaca is not what I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT this post was about (A spanish reference to an Irish person's bowel movement?).

It was a reference to a type of MONKEY...go figure...the slur was aimed at a person of "color" ...-

When was the last time you heard anyone say anything remotely positive about Cynthia McKinney? IMHO, you are hearing what you want to hear.

I'm not South African, but we had a horse groom/ringer from S. Africa for a summer during his 'walkabout' (yes, I know they call it that in Australia too) and he refered to every black guy he ran across as a kaffir, in a derogatory manner--he hated black people and was proud of it. Maybe I was misunderstood and he meant it like "holmes" or "brother"? Dunno. Violent bastard though--beat up several college girlfriends before one would testify against him and they shipped him back to his dad in Pretoria.

It's not so much that people haven't said anything positive - they have. It's more that they don't say anything at all, they just accept it as normal. That's way more disturbing.

Sorry but I disagree. I have been pissed off to the point that I would like to deck someone but a racial or cultural insult has never crossed my lips because that is not the way I think. I do not think in terms of white or black, gay or straight, muslim or jewish … all I see are *********s. I am of the belief that any person, regardless of race, religion, culture or sexual preference has the capability to be an ass. I am of the opinion that the only people who use insults such as that are people who believe that way. McKinney, Gibson, Allen et al are all the same IMO. They are bigots in one fashion or another. Alcohol does not make one say things that one does not believe. Allen did not just use a word that he thought was fake but in reality was real and use that word in reference to a person who that word was ‘invented’ for. Allen is a bigot, Gibson is a bigot, KcKinney is a bigot. It’s not a slip of the tongue. It is their true self raising it’s ugly head into the sun shine for all to see.

When I compare the amount said about McKinney to her actual relevance, I conclude that they have said plenty about her.

The media's only consistent biases are in favor of (a) never going out on a limb and (b) always maximizing ratings and/or circulation (ie, profits). Anyone who has watched the last four presidential elections and still thinks that the media are biased in favor of Democrats is not being objective. IMHO.
