A good place to start your research may be the link Med provided--I actually didn't know about his apparent issue with the Jews either. |

Well it certainly doesn't make him an enlightened person either. But that is just one example of his prejudice, do some research into his Rainbow Coalition and the extortion tactics they employ to get what they want. My point is these two are strange bed fellows.

Show me a perfect man. I've done some racist stuff and still have some racist tendencies. We are, as a nation, engaged in stifling the will of another race that we tend to look down our noses at in a big way, buncha GDed haajis and towelheads, anyway. Jackson is one hell of a speaker. Have you heard him? I have, in Seattle (liberal back-water hell-hole) in the 80s. The cat brings some strong stuff. I saw him on the tube last night. While black people on the street were moaning about how Michael Richards' apology was simply not enough, Jackson was on the tube with him saying that Richards is sincere, etc., basically playing the voice of reason. Jackson has some problems. Take a ride with me through the hood in Oakland and I'll show you a whole pile of brothers with way more problems. The man is head and shoulders above Al Sharpton, who he's often lumped in with. Rupert Murdoch has his people on standing orders to highlight any story or information that reflects badly on Jackson. Don't suppose over consumption of propoganda from FOX and the likes of Limbaugh would have anything to do with your POV, would it? BTW, SfloriII, no need for any response. I don't expect one. Either you've got me on ignore or reckon that I'm not worth the time. See if you can grow a pair there, 'pseudo Christian.'

Damn, cmac, there you go with that logical **** again. Can't say I disagree with a lot of this post. I knew Jesse's son in college and he is a different dude, but i chalk that up to second generation wealth(he comes across more polished and much less radical brotha)--Jesse didn't grow up rich. I don't like Jesse Jackson and think he is mostly a hypocrite who has sold out his connection with King and cashed in, but what you have posted above is hard to argue with--like him or not. Contrast this with what you posted about Jesse. Wtf, dude? Last edited by John Doe; 11-28-2006 at 04:50 PM. |

I dunno for certain, I had no problem with the guy for a long time then I see more and more posts about what ninnies the dang democrats and liberals are. I'd respond with some mild defense -- nothing back. Then he's talking about Jackson as a bigot. I say something about it -- nothing back. Then I read the guy talking about his church work. Jesus's message was one of inclusion, not exclusion; we are all one, saw his enemies like unto himself, etc. From sfII I get the sense that his religion is like a private club.
On Jackson, I get burned out about the reparations stuff and the always going on about what whitey done, etc. What makes it worse is he may have a point. I think most people build on many generations of healthy family life, some exceptions to this of course, people who do well in spite of being abandoned at birth but it is unavoidably true that the South built serious wealth on the backs of people whose descendents were hounded like hell for decades after emancipation. I don't think reparations will work. But I know my ancestors got by on their own sweat not sweat stolen from a people. I know times are tough everywhere and all that. I can't get rid of a nagging sense that some sort of affirmitive action done right will be a win-win. Increased chances of finding good employees and decreased chances of being held up by a blood in the hood.

In the past when people have said something like that to him, he says, "I'm a tree shaker, not a jelly maker." I'm thinking, "Jesse! I'm hongry! Stop shaking my tree and bring me a peanut butter and jelly sammich!!"

i heard jesse speak at the national school board conference in san fransisco about 1991 or so.
he had good points to make and was very very inspirational. a tree shaker indeed. but as cmac noted many hungry folks out there. but that is not his skill. shaking trees is. kindof like bill clinton. a flawed but powerful man who is interested in helping folks move toward a better life. tom w

There's some film footage of JJ floating around that I'm sure he'd like to forget. He was going on about various big improvements (prospective) to the black community saying something like, "and I want people to be able to say JESSE JACKSON did this, JESSE JACKSON fed the hungry, JESSE JACKSON healed the lame, JESSE JACKSON..." and so on.
Just a bit meglomanaical.
