Soon to be followed by the iPhone Nano, then the iPhone Neuro, which will be a tiny implant inserted into one's cochlea.

The real question is, when to jump on the wagon?

It is supposed to be a "multi year" contract with Cingular............since Cingular sucks around here I will not have one unless it can be unlocked like my Blackberry.

Yeah I gotta say, Zune is just WAY too late. It looks nice, but the market it super saturated.

OK, someone explain to me the big deal.

I've had my current iPaq phone for over a year, and an earlier one for 4 before that.

I have a phone, with full internet, email, contacts, word, excel, games AND music all in one device.

The email is outlook, and connects to my corporate (personal) exchange server.

Storage has been limited, but thats changing quickly with 8 gig SD cards.
Gee my one gig card only holds 100 or so albums (OK, I removed a few songs from each, the ones I didn't want anyhow)

So I've had everything for 5 years.

And while it does have a keyboard, it's touchscreen. The phone dialer is touch screen only !!!!

Yes, it's Windows Mobile.

PS any comments about virus's vs Apple remember this is MOAB
As Coined by Apple Loyalists !!!

That is "Month Of Apple Bugs", they have been reporting Holes in the OS faster than Apple can fix them(In fact over half the temporary patches are not from Apple).
Not even counting things like the current Adobe hole, affects ALL OSs.

I have nothing against Macs, use what you like best.
But for corporate stuff, Sorry Windows is it FOR NOW.

I have also stated if Jobs gets smart and quits trying to control the hardware and just sell the OS on any Intel hardware, for the first time in years there is an OS that could scare Msft.

Maybe I am missing the point of this MOAB thing, but these flaws they are finding in OS X seem pretty picky to me, especially when compared to the endless flaws in Microsoft products.

I don't know anything about the Zune, but I almost felt sorry for its designers on the day it came out. The news people reporting on it just tore it to ribbons. Microsoft has single-handedly refuted the saying, "Build a better mouse trap and customers will beat a path to your door." That rule now says, "Build a dominant technology and customers will have no choice but to come to your door."

Just stated the MOAB thing, because up here anytime some says Windows there are 4 "Get a Mac" posts.
I just get sick of the zealots, no offense to them.

Look at it logically, the MAC OS is based on UNIX.
300% of the reason UNIX/LINUX has never made inroads on the desktop is zealots.

My (insert flavor) is better than your (insert flavor).
Insert Flavor = BSD, ATT, SUN, AIX, ... or Linux Redhat, Unbutu ....

IF 25 years ago these guys had gotten together and standardized them Bill Gates would probably be flippin burgers.
None of them are compatible, each is unique and different (the Linux's have gotten better, BUT haven't solved the issue).
I have worked on most over the years(I've been in the industry, hard to believe, almost 40 years and I'm just over 50. I was programming before I could drive, common today, not so in the late 60s), the consistency of Windows is what made it.

Believe me I can give you some choice words about Windows and it's FUs.
And a BE UT that affect Windows Mobile !!!!

And regarding the endless flaws in Windows, many are pretty picky too.
The hole can only be exploited under some pretty complex situations.
But you only see "7 patches released this week". Read the details.

Funny, I have 7 computers here. Hardware is my biggest headache.
Hack me, yea right !!!

And my brothers Mac has given him some grief !!

Agree Zune is ???

Although the new Sansa from SanDisk has some interesting features, a bit clunky though.

Still I've had, and used, a phone with an MP3 player for 5 years.

So other than it comes from God Steve vs. the Devil Bill ....

Agreed. Lol.

I use both at work, PC and a Mac - Power Mac G5.

For day-to-day stuff, Internet, basic multimedia, etc., a Mac is awesome. Hassle-free.

However, I use mine for desktop publishing and imaging work. There are plenty of major hassles, believe me. Fonts and font management are a nightmare in OS X. Even with the updates and managers, they're still a nightmare. Different apps grab from different sources, it's a nightmare. Many clients we work with, including newspapers and magazines, still use OS 9.x and earlier versions of programs like Quark, simply to avoid this hassle. Then other clients have upgraded to say, Adobe InDesign and OS X. So you need to be able to handle both. Grrrr..

Just google 'font management' and 'OS X' for fun.

FTP support is built into OS X. Great feature! Only...you can't write back to the server. No matter what the server's permissions are set to, OS X enables all files and folders to 'read-only'. I'm presuming this is for security. Glad it's secure. Only...it's a useless feature. You need to download a third party FTP client, like Cyberduck. Sounds like...Windows? Then there's the issues with Finder not refreshing properly (fixed since Jaguar I think??) but it was annoying while it was there.

I've been running XP for a few years now and I've had ZERO hassles with it. Yes, you have to run a firewall and antivirus and keep them up to date, but that's simply the price for using the world's dominant OS. Simple as. I think many people simply do not know how to use Windows properly and/or neglect to update it and hence you get problems.

In this regard, a Mac wins hands-down. It is far easier to use 'out of the box' and for someone who doesn't want to have to constantly keep on top of their OS and enviroment, it's a no-brainer.

But all this talk of "Macs are perfect" is a little silly, IMO.

Just my $0.02.
