Job openings - no brain needed

I went into the city's dept of utilities to pay my bill this month and finally made it to the glass window to humbly pay for my bill. I handed over the invoice and my check. Since I keep more then one residence I do not have my address printed on my checks, it helps since I travel a bit. The lady behind the counter, which has already seen me in person at least 10 times informs me without proper ID she cannot receive payment. She claims due to identity fraud and no address on my check I need to produce ID. I had flashbacks to the DMV days of dumbness to the tenth power.

I get out of line and go to my vehicle and return moments later and she handles the transaction. Now here's my thought, I understand in these fraudent times it's better to be safe than sorry but in my life of 40 years I have NEVER had one try to assume my ID and PAY a bill. Ok maybe if I were cashing the check it would be obvious for the need of ID but to PAY a bill???
I mean, what if I had just dropped the check into the drop box, would they need ID also?

Good grief it is a wonder to me how anything gets done in the US with the overwhelming amount of just plain dumbness at the state and city level.
Please people let's hear some comments or am I the only one that sees this exponential dumbness in action.

Clerks are given a set of rules to which little or no explanation is given to them on why these rules are in place.

Recently, I had a fraudulent charge show up on my Visa Check Card. I caught it immediately, card cancelled, yada yada. Later that week I went to deposit a check into my account. No cash, just a straight deposit. The teller asked me for ID - which (for what ever reason) just did not have on me. She stated my account had been flagged. She refused to make deposit and I had to get wifey to come inside and make the deposit.

I would assume there are some sick people out there picking up deposit slips and putting money into other peoples accounts to mess them up. LOL

Well, I don't know about YOU guys, but I sure as hell don't want anybody making unauthorized deposits into MY bank account! Hell no!

Oh, yeah. I also take the money back to the IRS if they give me a refund. Hee, hee, hee!

Identity theft is far more serious than you guys realize. Not only will they open bank accounts and get utility service in your name they will buy a house in your name and take out an equity loan before they skip town and leave you owing money on a house mortgage for a house that you have never seen.

I thank people for asking me for an ID and all of my cards are signed "Check Identification".

If someone assumes my identity I will take out an insurance policy on him and kill the guy.

I like that Twitch. Kill somebody posing as you. That would be like suicide, wouldn't it? I've never heard of anybody being arrested or prosecuted for suicide. It seems a fitting punishment for identity theft. What do you lahyers think about that?

I suddenly feel better about having well water, and not having to deal with such things.

This very thing happened to me I could tell you all about it. It will be many years until everything is straightened out in the matter. I'm lucky though I've got buku bucks to pay lawyers, investigators, everyone I need to handle it for me. I was told by my lawyer, that it has put less wealthy people on the streets in some cases. If not handled in a very precise manner you can never beat it. It all started when a collection agency called my house and asked me about a deliquint bill, for a credit card called "Household bank ". I knew I'd never heard of them, and I don't own a landscape business, and have no use for a $12,000.oo lawnmower, and three $1,500.oo leaf blowers, with an assortment of other accesories. I was shocked, when I found out about a house two cars, and a boat, all in San Jose, California. It's the real deal guys, and will get you very easily.

Brad Pitt recently had a look-alike buy a car in his name and pose as him all over the place, using a fake I.D. and real bank access. He took brad for quite a few hundred thousand before beig caught. By authorities.

I know someone where they paid his credit card bill, so they wouldn't get a bill for that month. Then they racked up charges until it was maxed.

ID theft is a big problem, if someone stole mine and I killed them wouldn't that be suicide?

Hmmmm....

A very good family friend has an Amex Black Card....

Sometime in October, he got a call from Amex saying that he had reached his limt, and they asked if he wanted it raised. He said something to the extent of "WTF." The limit on the card is about the price of two new fully optioned Ford Focus's.

Well, he told the woman on the phone that he hadnt been using his card, as he had started to use his business card, because of the better rewards. Well, they locked his Amex Black card, and were able to track the purchases and catch the guys that stole the card.

Amex fixed all of the problems that arose from the theft of the card, and he is out no money. He got a new card, with new number, and all is well once again!

Since when is there a limit on the AMEX black card? They don't give those cards out to just anybody!

I was glad that my credit card company watches unusual transactions. I once borrowed a large sum of money off my credit card and planned to pay it off before the next billing statement. When I got to the teller window at my bank to deposit the funds, my wife called saying the card company was on the phone asking if she had authorized the transaction. That was quick action on their part!

They have a limit if you tell them that you want one!

I saw the little dealie that you get the card with. It comes in a very nice briefcase. Its funny though. He only carries 6 things in his wallet. Black Card, WaMu card, Amex Business card, 11-99 Card, his License, and the keyless go card for his S600.

I thought to get a black card you had to spend $250k a year through them...

I want one someday just for the bragging rights, so I can whip it out and buy that $5 sandwich at Subway with it.
