Trans removal questions (with pics)

Allright, how do I remove this??? It's on my 95 escort...

This is the only thing left before I can unbolt and drop the trans... How do I seperate the CV from the differencial?
This joint needs to be seperated...

Also, how am I supposed to put it back together when I'm done with the trans swap?

A pic of how awesomely hot I am (not).... More a pic of my messy ****ing garage with a pissed off me in it. Minor NSFW

New (to me) trans
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v644/NathanEbert/rawr.jpg

I was prying on it with a tire iron, and that didnt get me anywhere... So I wedged two large screwdrivers in there, and started driving them up the side... no luck, chipped part of the diff housing (lucky for me I'm swapping the trans)

I then used that same tire iron, only I hit it sideways with my BFH (1.5"x1.5"x3" homemadelead head hammer)
I then smashed my finger, and decided to go to bed... I had my sister take a few pics.

Any help would be appreciated, I know I've gotta be doing something wrong, but I dunno what it is.

Thanks alot
~Nate

Can you find a copy of a Haynes or Chiltons manual for this car? If it saves you one smashed finger, it's worth it.

Wish I had pics, I dont know what I did to deserve that girl, damn it was fun... Umm yeah, we broke up b/c she said she was going into the Navy and didnt want to be with anyone (understandable... **** deal, but understandable)
I got to talking with her dad a while ago (he's pretty awesome, and an engineer at the power plant to boot) Turns out, she's not going into the navy for another year or two (changed her mind)

Dare I call her? I think I've got her number

ANYWAYS DAMN OFF TOPIC
I dont have a manual for it, I'm going to go to the library tommorrow after school and see what's there (i know they've got manuals)

My finger's throbbing, and a little purple under the nail... I've heard of drilling through the nail (using my other hand) to relive the pressure off it. Good idea or not so much?
Time for bed anyways, Im just gonna sleep

Drilling thru the nail when needed is really painful. I prefer a red hot paper clip to burn a hole. The smell is kinda gross, so get a fan or something.

Assuming you have the shaft out of the strut carrier, use a prybar to force the CV joint from the diff. When you're reinstalling the half shafts, check the boots and replace them, or the shafts if necessary, lube the splined shafts and use a rubber mallet to force the shaft into the hole. There is a circlip on the shaft. Watch out that you don't tear the seal.

Nate, find a manual. It may reveal some step that you're not performing, or some tool that you absolutely need for the job.

Yep, ease of use. Can't drag a desktop PC into the garage.

Whip out the Ford wrench. Its my favorite tool for working on cars and boats... If it doesn't work the first time, use a bigger wrench.
