Yeah.

Or a well maintained, low mileage undisturbed SEC?

Simply unlimited power...........and I couldn't even get it to squeal a bit in a cloverleaf even when taking it at 50 mph.........it just wouldn't let go.
Yeah they are a blast, I drove an SL500 a few weeks ago, big, big mistake. It was very fast, quite different then what I am used to. Big mistake.

It's actually retarded.........there is just no possibility of driving it at speeds less than 80-90 mph..........owning such a vehicle is a recipe for disaster........either physical........or financial.

I enjoyed driving the SD home.........surprisingly enough..........something about that diesel...........

I'd definately take a look at the 330ci, so long as it was the pre-Bangle styled model, and without the run flat tires, Who needs i-drive (i-drivel) in a drivers cars.

Those little 3 series are really driver's cars, they handle so well they almost intuit your thoughts, I really like them.

One in good shape with a good history and in a color you like, and if you are lucky, one with the Sport package, (some of the M trimmings) would be nice. I'm not too sure what you get with it, but I think it might include M trimmed steering wheel and seats, better suspension and wheels, and possibly those run flats, which are expensive to replace. Either an automatic or manual are lots of fun.
I have been checking the prices of used 330Ci's and they seem pretty reasonable. Is there something better about the coupe as opposed to the 330i sedan? Either one comes with a stick or Sport package.

All the cars I've driven so far don't have the combination of isolation and control that my old Benz has. They either have one or the other, sometimes neither. I haven't driven the 330 yet but I wiill soon

The 330CI's and 330I's are nice, they ride like a BMW, actualy about as stiff as a W126...

Another option for a unique and fast car is the XJR:

Jag's love to be driven fast, and that V8 sounds sexy on its cams...

Going from a BMW 330 to a Jag is a big leap (haha) into the next level of $$$ maintenance. Nice enough car, though I never see young people drive them or high mileage examples.

Not sure if the 330 sedan has a sports package, something to google.

From what I understand, Jags have been very reliable since the Ford takeover. A friend of mine is about to turn the lease in on her X-Type. She's had it for four years (and she is 27 now). She only had to take it back once for a new battery.

Now I have another friend who leased a 2003 Mercedes Benz E320 and you would not believe the crap that she has had to put up with.

I see tons of X types around here. They had a lousy rep at first, but Jag managed to turn that around. I just can't see a younger person bopping around in a Jag. Anyhow...

Maybe it's me, but I'm getting tired of driving land yachts so am living out my dreams through advice. No wonder I was drooling over that orange Lotus Elise S the other day....

I hate the X type no offense, its a freaken Ford. The XJ's are the real Jag's, and the newer ones are pretty reliable.

FYI it seems the XJR's used the 722.6 trans, so its part Mercedes.

I'm pretty much set on getting a stick.

I drove a Mustang yesterday, not a GT but a 5-speed. It chirped and hopped over bumps and had a little trouble keeping up with the Accord who thought I was trying to race him. I got bored after my 10 minute test drive. Its still a cool looking car and the GT is better for raw speed if that's what you're into.

It looks like I'm narrowing my choices down to a Mazda6 s Passat 2.0. Either one with a sunroof and manual trans falls below 25K. I'm a little bugged that the Passat requires premium gas. A late model 330i would also be nice, but I've become wary of used cars.

So its been a few months, my son is about to inherit the old Benz and I have fine-tuned my 'new' daily driver selection. It will be a coupe with manual trans. The list is:

New Altima 2.5 Coupe
Used 2003+ Corvette (Z06?)
New or slightly used Rx8

Any pros or cons?

Very different cars. If you want a preformance car the Vette is the clear winner. The Altima coupe is FWD so it can only be so "sporty".

Corvettes aren't cheap to run, it is in a whole other class compared to an Altima or RX-8. RX-8s are pretty fun cars, though I never liked the styling that much. They really do look like a penis!

I agree with Hat.

Apples, oranges and bananas, so it's hard to comment. Obviously the Corvette is the fastest, worst build quality and impractical.

Mazda makes the most sense. Altima? I drove one as a loaner, okay car for someone who wants an appliance.
