Sounds like a physiological reaction to bad food rather than them knowing the food is bad. If they knew, why do they eat things that give them food poisoning?

I've noticed strange bee behaviour at my house recently. There is an electrical outlet on our back porch with a spring loaded cover over it. When I go to plug in the mower I usually find one or two bees in there. The holes in the outlets are stopped up with pollen and usually there's a dead bee stuck in there. Sometimes a live one as well. Last weekend I found the holes stopped up with polen again and a live bee in there. It flew out and crashed on the ground a few inches away. Seemed to have major problems flying in general. Tried to take off and flew into the wall. Seemed to be acting in a really strange fashion. Eventually managed to fly off into the blue yonder. This has been happening for a few months now that a few bees appear to be trying to set up a hive in this outlet. Never more than one or two at any time though. Looks to this novice bee observer as if they are remmanents/stragglers/last survivors of some kind of collapsed bee civilization that are on the way out.
