Is the order reversed here? Did he decry drug use while he himself was addicted?

Rush is too smart to sue, which is a shame. The lawsuit that O'Reilly got Fox to file against Al Frankin was an all-time great. Franken never had it so good. The judge literally laughed Fox out of court. Man, that was sweet.

What part was unclear? He was talking about Jesse McBeth who was just convicted for being a "phony soldier". Someone posted a partial transcript previously, which was pretty clear. Even if he did mean something else, why didn't Reid et al condemn ABC news for running the same story about McBeth 2 days earlier? Answer: because they HATE Rush. They took 2 words (phony soldier) and twisted it around to try and make him look bad. The sad part is it is so obvious, if they were halfway smart, they could have picked a statement that was at least somewhat ambigious....

I was just pointing out that people make judgments. Sometimes good sometimes bad. It's probably appropriate to judge someone by their own standards, but a judgment nonetheless. As far as Limbaugh goes with his drug thing, I've never had issues with drugs, don't know what that would be like. Don't intend to find out.

Yep, both advocate personal responsibility vice government handouts; both have problems with modern feminism and both have programs that help active duty military and their families.

I think she's married though.

Having listened to Rush in the past and read the fist chapter of his book way back when, I know that the man can't even say hello in less than 30 minutes. And the problem here is 110 seconds??????? Jeez. All this says to me is that Harry Reid is truly desperate to find something to appease his supporters.

I did read the transcript and it did seem to me that he was talking about phony soldiers that pop up out of the blue. Since active duty soldiers don't "pop out of the blue" it seems that this latest one that Howie points out the left latched onto fits that description to a tee.

Now, I have a lot of difficulty in seeing the equity between calling a General in Command a traitor and the imbroglio regarding Limbaugh - even if he did call active duty soldiers phony - for which you would have to apply Mr. Fantastic effect to logic and good sense.

"And by the way, Jesse MacBeth's not the only one. How about this guy Scott Thomas who was writing fraudulent, phony things in The New Republic about atrocities he saw that never happened? How about Jack Murtha blanketly accepting the notion that Marines at Haditha engaged in wanton murder of innocent children and civilians?"
That's another good quote from the Mediamatters website regarding Limbaugh. Apropos since we have a thread about J. Kerry happening on OD also.

How many people think that Murtha calling Marines murderers prior to trial is ok?

Is making up stories about atrocities that you and your fellow soldiers commit ok?

The full (unedited) radio segment is on YouTube so you can hear what was said. It is OBVIOUS that Rush was talking about Jesse McBeth and as pointed out elsewhere here, he didn't mention his actual name until a minute or 2 into it. A caller actually brought up the fact the liberals use bogus stories to push their agenda, and Rush then called someone like that a phony soldier. Then a bit later they bring up Jesse.

Now just to cover the bases, even if he didn't mention Jesse, he also DID NOT say anywhere that any person who disagreed with the war was a "phony soldier". The point is if you don't believe what I heard to make my point, show me where in the transcript that he said something to support *your* point. DIDN'T HAPPEN.

And even if this is still unclear to the dunces in the room, why would nobody call Rush to verify what he said before they get in front of Congress and make an ass of themselves? They really dropped it by not knowing about the ABC story. Did you know about that? Do they deserve Congressional condemnation too?

He must not have gotten that wide of play cause I've only heard of him in passing. I very rarely check out liberal blogs -- so much unedited long winded writing, nothing like here. . . . . .

It's like me dear mither used to say, if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all.

My main complaint with Limbaugh doesn't have to do with literal dishonesty, though there is some of that, and the guy does make sense now and then.

It's the business of always defining the scapegoat -- couldn't possibly be one of us good conservatives that are causing any problems, IT'S THE LIBS!

Life is not that simple. Most all of us are our own worst enemy to at least some extent.

I love google (not really). It's amazing what pops up with simple searches:

Evidently is doesn't just happen here.

No need to google what you already know.
