My 401k is doing fine. I adjusted out of stocks last November and into T-Bills. In late summer I'm intending to shift back into the stock market.

Sorry about your 401K. Stayed in the stock market huh?

That's interesting information, Mr. Botnst.......

Especially since you claimed to having sold declining "stocks," just last week, to buy the $9K E300.
My, my, market timing and reporting, isn't all it's cracked-up to be around here......is it?

The fact that you have no clue why I was looking for bond charts tells much us much skid, since you don't have a clue why I was looking for them while the people that responded knew exactly why I was asking because they are in the business of stocks and bonds...unlike you We know more about skid than skid thinks

1. I don't day trade
2. your attempt at Ad hominem will go down in a ball of flames with your newest screen name......promise.

Yep, sure did sell some stock. Did you notice that my previous post was about my 401K? Do you keep all of your assets in your 401K? Do you think that I cashed in my 401K to buy a car?

That was the kindest retort to a character assassination I have ever seen.

LOL!

Does this thread mean that stocks are joining real estate in the toilet? (Come on in guys the water is cold).

I was talking at lunch yesterday and the guys were musing at what a person would put money into in today's market. I said Farm Land? They said its in a bubble now and will go back down. ONe guy said to buy poor farm land now since it will be good for growing switch grass (he's a builder and land developer).

You know what we all agreed on?

The corned beef and cabbage was just outstanding.

The economy has been driven so far into the toilet by greedy bastards that it will take some real effort to salvage it.

WPA, CCC and TVA are looking better all the time.

Not all of it is in the toilet, I admit I have not be paying as much attention as I should but I now own a tiny bit of stock and the rest is in S&P and various funds, over all I'm up thanks to a couple that had big gains and the ones that did go down were less than 3% worst case.

Another way to look at losses is its only a loss if you sell, I have real estate that I bought low and should have sold during the boom and the value has softened considerably but they are still well above what I have into them so...no loss in my book.

I don't play the market and I am by nature, a long-term, conservative investor. But I thought we were in for a severe correction last November and so, shifted about 60% of my assets out of S&P and Russell and into T-Bills on the theory that a 3-4% gain is better than a 10-20% loss. My "plan" is to go back into the stock market sometime in late summer. I think that's when the market will be at or near bottom. But that is not based on any analysis. Call it faith-based investment!

I'll email some info to you about T-Bills, the last auction was not pretty..or google http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&rls=GFRD%2CGFRD%3A2007-38%2CGFRD%3Aen&resnum=0&um=1&tab=wn&q=T-Bill+auction+..

Personally, extra cha ching is going into gold and silver coins.

The bills I buy are through my employer and thus, not the usual run. T-Bills may not be the most accurate name as I believe it implies a certain form of security. We're in the realm of "I dunno what I'm talking about, but watch my dance step!".

Also, I think it's too late to buy into precious metals. If I had the means and gigantic balls I'd buy into oil exploration. A close friend has been doing that since the 1950's and all of the reshooting of old fields using 4-d (3 spatial and through time) seismic surveys is presenting a lot of opportunities. There is some opportunity to "small investors" like my friend, who can afford to tie-up $10K per day for a couple of months on a risky venture. Even if I had the $$$ for it, that would scare the hell out of me!

Why not? Since some illiquid people are now using their debit cards as a direct-draw from their 401Ks to eat at Ruth's Chris.
Anything is possible for those in debt and strapped for cash..

I don't have a 401K........I have no need for an "employer," either......SEP, Roth, and regular IRAs, yup.
Unfortunately, I been able to amass double those account amounts in like liquid assets.

Taxes are a b*tch, but them are the breaks.

It's interesting how popular T-Bill talk is.........considering some claimed to be in them already for 5-months now. Wonder why this information is just now surfacing?
Probably couldn't find the door.......being blind and all.

As for buying T-Bills?...... How many months will you miss the next trend by?
Cause the train left the interest-rate station 'bout a year ago.......

I like your attitude, Tom. Corned beef and cabbage is a priority this time of year! Don't forget the beer too!
