3rd world fishermen are already en route to sharply reducing shark populations world wide and this will really muck things up. W/o top predators (polar bears are bound to decline before long) seals and sea lion populations will explode and they eat fish in a big way.

Get ready for seal and sea lion steaks. Yummy.

ASSUMING you are right and the USN is the only one with the hardware to do it. Who pays the tab? Hardware can be bought, right? Have the UN set up it's own fleet to do it.

IF you can do that, you won't need the USN. If you can't, like I said, the USN and the former USSR navy combined will not be able to do it. Say I set up a fishing company in country X that doesn't agree with this act. You going to shoot a vessel flying the flag of country X if I fish there?

Mankind takes what it wants, not what it needs. Eventually, the resources we want will be depleted, then we'll learn to live with what we need, if there's anything left. I'd surmise that there won't be much, because mankind generally lives for today and not for tomorrow.

Humans are users without predators, so when our population gets totally out-of-whack, disease will solve that issue (study deer populations to get an idea of what I mean; hell, study human populations of the past). In the meantime, we'll take all we can from this planet to survive. With our behavior, there is NO WAY you're going to establish 1/3 of the oceans as "Fishing-Free" zones.

Besides, fish is good for you.

Not everybody patterns their moral decisions around a certain book. I don't follow the Buddhist writings. Doesn't mean I hate Buddhism. Just don't believe in it. Same as with the Torah and the Bible. Don't believe in them. Don't follow their teachings. Just go with what feels right to me. Do I hate them? Don't think so. Does that mean I have no morals? Yes and no. I don't have the Jewish or Christian moral code. I have my own codes. Is it sufficient? For me, yes.
