People who attack the public school system mostly would like to replace it with private schools. We used to have that. Only the wealthy got an ecucation. The failures of public schools are much exxagerated. Most places they are doing a fine job. In the places they are failing it is more of a failure of the culture in that place.

So you listen for a few minutes to someone that broadcasts for 3 hours a day and call him a bully. Maybe you should listen a bit more and hear what is actually said. I like his show. But I AM a conservative. I also like talk radio and I'm sure that has something to do with it. I work at a union railroad job so for 40 hours a week all I get is negativity. The last thing I want to hear on the radio in my free time is a bombasitc, bullying, blowhard.

Works well when I want to sleep and cannot fall asleep. Alcohol and drugs work better though.

I suppose, like most people, he has some good points he makes and some bad ones. Basically a showman.

I imagine if I listened for three hours I might actually find some things I agree with him on.

If I crawl through three miles of cow manure I might also find a few flowers along the way but I just don't need the flowers that much.

Do you think Rush has any African-American or Asian-American devotees?

I can't stand tunnel vision, if you don't listen to Rush because you don't agree with him how are you going to come up with new idea's? Personally I don't listen to Limbaugh or Hannity because they have nothing new to offer, OTOH I listen to liberal radio because they offer new ideas.

I dunno. He doesn't have either in me. I do find him amusing though. Somebody that can rant and rave on like that amuses me. However, after a while, it gets boring which sends me to sleep.

If you check my first post on this thread you will find that I said I would not listen to a liberal (or centrist) who had a personality like his (or words to that effect).

I have read many quotes from him that show up here and there. I don't see why you or anybody else thinks I can't have an opinion about him without sitting through hours and hours of his tirades.

He is an egotistical puke.

I wouldn't listen to him if he were politically exactly like me.

I don't really like (what is the name of the liberal comedian who had a talk show for a while?) ____________much either although I find his stuff pretty humerous. I read his book "Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot". While I agree with many of his pov I don't much care for his personality.

I enjoy listening to NPR because they present things without political varnish. The interview lefties and righties and allow them to speak their mind.

I get to make my own opinions. I like that.

I don't need Rush or anybody to "tell me what to think."

We are pretty much on the same page; five minutes of Rush (or his lefty equivalents) is more than enough, whether you agree with them or not. However, I would have to disagree with your take on NPR; they are very subtle and insidious in their leftward, elitist slant. Although the local NPR station is what I primarily listen to, I find myself listening less and less often.

I believe the liberal comedian, who actually wrote two books about Rush is: (Drum roll please....) none other than Mr. Al Franken. Al is currently trying to make a run for Congress and is running against two other Democrats up here near Minneapolis/St. Paul. I believe he's hoping to be the Democratic son to run again their current Congressman, R-Norm Coleman.

I used to listen to NPR also...but I find them about 75-80% left of my comfort zone, but yes, they do do both sides...the problem is that the "follow-up" by other guests is where the left side of the equation becomes more pronounced and the "right" side is, usually, given short-shrift.

Tom, et al: No where, on this board, does it appear that anyone is a parrot of someone else's opinion. We may quote each other, and others from outside this board, but by the grace of GOD and our Constitution, show me any other country, in this world, that allows us to practice, and enjoy, this very freedom we often-times take for granted, and I'll show you the very reflection of this country that is in that image. No other country was formed that allows this one particular right to exist, and it's up to us to make sure that no man, government (Left, Right or Centrist) denys us this very right.

Al Franken, Rush Limbaugh and others like them, are doing what they are allowed to do...make an opinion known.

And, like any TRUE FREE SOCIETY, they are allowed to say what is on their minds, to folks that THINK like they do.

Some succeed (Rush).

Some fail (Al).

But, given different circumstances and times, the reverse would have been true, and it was.

It's just difficult for some folks to see that their "opinion" isn't held in as high regard as it once was.

Was it because the message was wrong? I doubt it...it most likely got drowned out by all the "hanger-ons" that wanted to use the message/messenger as their "mouth-piece" and the original message was lost in all the hoopla.

Has the left lost their reason to be? Nope, they are a balance to the far-right that also exists in all societies...some are more pronounced than others.

It's suppose to be the press's responsibility to root out the bad and celebrate the good.

And again, when we lose the balance in that fundamental right, we lose that right all together. This country is the only one that practices freedom of the press and as such, our citizens have had, and honed, the organizational skills to fight off governmental control...but during War-time and the McCarthy years, the government (for the good/bad of those being controled) managed to get itself involved...but the Supreme Court managed to bring it back, under control, to the people, from where it was taken.

Let's all hope that any restriction, on any liberty (or right) is a temporary inconvenience, and not an edict, from some self-delusional deity, being it either a Harry Reid, a Nancy Pelosi, a George Bush or whatever.

I agree with almost everything you said except one thing.

It is not the duty of the press to put down the bad and celebrate the good it is their duty to report facts without editorial slant.

We seldom get that but that is the duty.

I stand corrected...you're right...I've been in this forest too long...I forgot what a tree looks like by itself...

ALTHOUGH, I wouldn't mind a celebration of the good more often, than not. And when the bad is identified, could we, at least, quit making excuses for it and wipe it out, as it should be?

The point is you couldnt possibly know what he's like unless you listen to him. Since you dont listen then you shouldnt say something like that. I know all sorts of people that say the same things about him that you do and not one of them listens to his show. So I ask them how in the **** could they know?
Is my cousin Gary a liar? How would you know you've never met him or listened to his endless lines of bull****. I can say that cause I grew up with that jackass.

It's funny that people that say the like to make their own opinions copy cat other peoples opinions.

and if you want to talk about rude Franken had the monopoly on rude radio, I guess thats why the show went bankrupt despite massive cash infusions.
