Is my cousin Gary a liar? How would you know you've never met him or listened to his endless lines of bull****. I can say that cause I grew up with that jackass.
Once when I was a kid another older kid gave me a seven up which he had pissed in. Not knowing and it being in a green bottle, I took a sip. I didn't have to drink the whole thing to know I didn't like it.

I don't have to listen to very much of Rush Limbaugh to make the same conclusion.

VERY WELL SAID!

With the rise of "advocacy journalism" came the death of this type of reporting. Pity.

The real difference is that the "news" people claim to be neutral. It is obvious they are not.
Rush ( and Al etc) make no claim to be objective. They pretty much state their pov and go from there.

NPR being unbiased? wow! That just means their bias matches your own.

As opposed to oxycodon?

"... if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up," - His stance on drug abuse before he was exposed as an addict.

The question is what is his stance on it NOW. If he keeps the same stance, I have no problem with that. If he changes to a softer stance, I guess he is being human.

The taxi driver I had today was from Mass (born in Tiverton but grew up in Mass) and he liked and listened to Rush Limbaugh.
I used to listen to him every day until I put myself in political time out. Sure he came across as arrogant and self-absorbed but his message rang (more or less) true to those of us who had him and only him to hear "our" side of the story. Yes, he was able to go negative with the best of them when the situation or person warranted. But for the most part he gave us a positive message. Now that horizon has been broadened, maybe dilluted, by others.

It's funny you mentioned a taxi driver. When I was in Orlando and taking the taxi from the airport to the hotel, the driver (who was of some Caribbean decent) had Michael Savage on, really loud. Kind of an odd choice given the fact that there really isn't any grey area when it comes to Savage and he could of easily pissed off the wrong person had they gotten in the cab and not me.

These days I'm a sports radio guy, either terrestrial or via Sirius.

No, the question is what was his stance when he was hooked on oxycodon. He berated and belittled people for being addicts while he was one himself, a sterling example of unadulterated hypocrisy.

I'm more interested in whether he still recommends that we lock addicts up and throw away the key. He said : ... if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up," - His stance on drug abuse before he was exposed as an addict. I want to see him still agree with that message. THAT, I think will be way more interesting.

The people who spend the most time posting about Limbaugh are not the people who spend time listening to Limbaugh.

Regarding his stance on drug abuse.

Would his stance really change what you fell about him?
Isn't it true that you have a visceral hatred for him, and now are just looking for "reasons" to support your pre-judging of the man?

Well, It is human to err. Can I accept that his message is right but he was weak? Sure. Nothing wrong with the message, is there? He is correct, is he not? Does it matter who says it? I think not.

Now, OTOH, if he changes his stance once he has been busted, it shows that we cannot trust a word he says, past, present or future.
