I either overdid it yesterday or it took 30 hours for the novacane to wear off. Along about evening it started stiffening up and this morning was pretty painful....enough that I took half of one of those fancy prescription pain pills.

I'm gonna go ice it here in a little while.

Novocaine doesn't have that long a half life. I think you overdid it

TW- Glad your doing better and everything came out just fine. Pay attention to the follow up care instructions and don't deviate, surgery is only 1/2 of it.

Tom, Maybe they can install a zerk?

Stick with the physical therapy and you'll be running up stairs in no time.

Well, I'm ok with it because I don't want my insurance to be paying for every hairbrained scheme out there that is experimental. Yes, you could say it sucks if it were me that was in trouble. However, to keep things fair for all, I'd rather they don't do experimental surgeries that are not proven otherwise it would raise the rates for everybody. Now if I don't want them paying for experimental surgeries for others, could I ask for it if I were the one that wanted to try some hairbrained surgery?

All the while, I'm seeing REAL football players getting back on the field (although, at reduced capacity) and playing again after surgery. WTH?

I wonder if the surgery treatment has progressed even more so since '96?
Maybe at that time, that was the case. Surgical techniques have improved a long time since then and are improving every day.

I had the same problem as an NFL Player. In 4 weeks he was up and running. Well, they have all sorts of intense therapy that we don't have and they are willing to put up with some issues. Look at say Troy Aikman. How many concussions did he have and still play. You wanna? Not me .

Just as a SWAG, I'd say "yes".

I have concluded that the lack of pain was related to the extra fluid in the knee joint that he injected to give room for the surgical proceedure. when my body absorbed it the normal relationship of things returned and now there is pain.

There is no swelling to speak of though and today it seems better than yesterday.

I will be heading into the office later. I think I will go and pick up a cane.

1. Follow doc's orders..if they are not clear call the his nurse and ask.
2. If you don't have to do anything don't. One thing I learned about my neck with 4 herniated disc's is when its getting bad I say F- work ethic and stay in bed, a short bed rest circumvents and unnecessary epidural and a week or two off work.
