Nope. Go back and reread your statement. You said 'I sped up to squeeze in'. You should have put your blinker on and moved over instead of trying to get ahead of one more car. Yes, he probably was a pissed off driver, just like you for trying to 'squeeze in' in front of just one more car merging at the last moment.
What you really need to ask yourself is, how much time am I going to save going around this car? The answer is maybe 5 seconds total. The whole 'getting around that car' mentality is what causes traffic. Your saving yourself 5 seconds can cause a chain of people putting on their brakes and causing a stand still. So you can save yourself 5 seconds and cost everyone behind you much more, or you can be selfish.
You really should have merged much longer than 600 feet before the lane ended. There are always plenty of signs long before that.

I only drive slow in a merging situation because I am being courteous of other people and trying to lessen the traffic situation.

And I have no problem letting drivers like you in ahead of me because I know I just saved a whole line of cars behind from slowing down like what happened in the situation you mentioned previous. Nothing personal.

You said it, the farther you get from Chicago or NY the worse the pizza. When we went to Cali my dad took one bite of the pizza and said, "What the hell.." Even the pizza in Italy can't compare to NY pizza

I know what I said, I had been speeding up for a long time and he kept speeding up with me, matching my speed just not wanting to let me past. Whatever.

I followed him, noted the location of his house, and slashed his tires later that night.

Err.. just kidding.

This town has cut down on 2 lane (4 total) streets I think to slow down traffic. They have made them all one lane so when I get a chance to pass slower drivers I take it.

That was pretty much my reaction. And the pizza we had in CA was recomended by all the locals as the best in town, cooked in a brick oven etc. So I was expecting like the brick oven pizza I can get in New Haven. I took one bite and I was like WTF this tastes like a frozen pizza.

to clarify, this driver and i were accelerating next to each other on a dead freeway at 7 pm on like a Sunday night, there was no traffic, hence why we were going so fast, but what a rousing conversation about pizza and driving etiquette this caused! don't deliver for papa johns... its lame and it will kill your brakes.

There seems to be either an abundance of young somewhat inexperienced drivers, and/or ahole drivers, on this forum.

Whatever happened to merging 101? Pick an open spot, meet the speed of traffic in the lane your merging into, signal, and merge. I think they taught us that day one of driving school.

Problem is it don't work. Driving around here is a bit more cut throat than in SD. I loved driving out their, everyone is all laid back.

Try that with a BMW or SUV with a NJ or NY plate on it. You see a spot and signal, car behind speeds up. Damn blocked. You slow down, they do as well, MF.
