laptop issues

I am having issues with my sony viao pcg k23 laptop

Last night firefox was acting up, not allowing me to create a tab or browse, so I restarted the computer and it did not load past the Vaio load screen.

I shut if off, removed the battery and let it sit for an hour and came back. Same issue

so, I removed the ram and then re installed it. It got me to the windows log in screen and it didnt give me any issues.

well, 2 hours ago it did the same thing so I did the whole procedure and got nothing, frusterated and wanting to run check disk I am on the misson to reset the CMOS by removing the cmos battery, but I only have a pocket knife and it cannot remove one small screw to remove the stainless steel panel that covers the mobo.

My friend, that is a service admin for my old high school told me to boot chk dsk through my xp cd... but when I bought the laptop 4 years ago it didn't come with an XP cd at all... nor did this computer I am on now.. pretty gay. So he is going to load an image on a file server for me as well as some driver upates since some might have gotten corrupted.

still waiting for my bush bucks so I can upgrade my laptop to something new...frign sony viao, battery lasts like 10 minutes, slow as crap, etc...

Don when my Sony exhibited the same it was a corrupt NTLDR file. Not having any usable XP CD's it went to Vista.

wonderful. I have my precision screw drivers now, so off to remove CMOS and such

it sucks not having the CD, but I also need to access the harddrive so I can move all of my music and files to an external hd so I can reinstall xp...

I think I broke something... I went to remove the CMOS battery and, while attempting to remove it with the tweezer pushing on the clip and my nail trying to pry it up, the plastic thing holding the battery to the mobo came off with the battery!. crap... so now I need to get some non conductive crazy glue and glue that thing back in, but its holding for now.

I got no where since check disk /r will not run properly when attempted through dos when working in GUI, I cannot access it through the load screen since it doesnt give me the option... yarg

my friend uploaded the xp disk and nero for me to download later on this computer. I need to find some blank cd's....

everything is breaking on me this week.. I go on vacay and everything goes to crap pfftttt

The Sony probably has the CDs on a hidden partition.

There is a utility that will allow u to burn then, and some way via the boot to get into it to restore.

well, its verified the hard drive is shot

we put it into a different laptop and we missed the option to load bios and it went to load xp and it flashed the blue screen with hex code...

We then tried running Knoppix so to pull my data off the hard drive but it would not work. It saw the hard drive but wouldn't do anything, it kept terminating knoppix.

crap, 10 gigs of music and 5 years of pics(not important but... damn). Thankfully most of my pics are online and my music is all on my ipod.

I get paid next week, since I was on vacay last week I dont get paid tomorrow. Plus my bush bucks might come this week, I doubt it.. I could really use them.

I'm thinking macbook

Ahhh, I had the hard drive die in my MacBook this last weekend. It was cool though, as I had the drive, and was being lazy about getting around to installing it....

If I were to get a new computer right now, I would walk right past the macs, and go for a lenovo. I have an x61 and an x300 through my work, and they are superior to my mac in terms of quality and construction... They have carbon fiber chassis.

I dropped my x61 from 5 feet, it bounced, and was still working after the spill.... I tripped over the MagSafe on my other mac, my MacBook Pro, and it fell off the table.... Its got a nice flat spot on one of the corners now...

my friend, jason, the network admin. said the lenevo is a good choice.

is looking at them now

but for the same price I can get a lot more for $200 less.. I am seriously trying to get away from vista and xp. Plus it, the IBM, wont ship for 1-2 weeks where as the mac will ship same day and arrive 1-2 days later, free shipping...
