Going on a diet...

OK, so this weekend, I weighed myself and I'm like the heaviest I've EVER weighed in my life and for the first time ever, I'm ashamed to mow the lawn without a shirt.

So, today I start losing those ugly pounds. I plan on dropping 30-35.

Oh, I won't bother posting before/after pictures since I don't want to gross you all out...

Who's with me!

I did the Atkins diet a few years ago and it worked quite well for me. I highly recommend it along with some weight training. I lost a little over forty pounds in aobut 4-5 months. I've kept it off pretty well since then, too. It was easy to stick with the maintenance part of it.

Good luck. Unfortunately, it's harder and harder to lose weight the older you get.

I have a new TV on order to complete my exercise room. When it comes in, I'll be able to watch TV and exercise too! What a deal!

Yeah, getting my mind off the fact that I am exercising helps make it more tolerable to me, too. Good luck, Evan.

Yeah, when I used to have free time, I did a lot of waterskiing and was a lot more fit. When I get my new TV installed, I'll be able to watch my shows AND exercise!

So here's the program so far:

No more elevators - Always take the stairs unless I'm carrying something heavy.

No more snacks - nothing sugary.

No more non-diet drinks - Diet or water only.

Much smaller portions.

Less breads.

We'll see how that works for now...

I do all of the above and have maintained 134 lbs for the last two years.. plus or minus a few here and there as well as the time of the day ( gravity pulls more at certain times than others)

I may look like a twig but I can do my job.

Just a suggestion: Make small changes over a long period of time. The weight didn't suddenly appear on your body and it won't disappear suddenly either. Attempting to alter, even for the good, too many lifestyle changes can easily lead to fustration and feelings of deprivation, which can sabotage your plan.

I'm working on cutting out soda, and now I drink light beer!

The snacks are deadly, avoid them. What gets me is I snack right before I go to sleep, bad idea.

I would suggest staying away from diet soda. I think that the chemicals that they sweeten it with are worse for you than the sugar in regular pop. I also remember reading something about the sweetness of diet pop just gives you cravings for more sweets. What I do is I drink water with about 10% real fruit juice. It tastes fine to me. When I feel really wild I drink soda water, which is carbonated water with no sugar, and 10% juice.

I am trying to lose 30bs as well.

good luck
