I would think, seeing that tire pressure does affect fuel mileage, people would want to keep on top of it. I know I do. But if I want to waste my fuel I will.

That's fine. But then take personal responsibility, and don't complain about the price.

Oh I do. I have cut my fuel expenses from 344 dollars a month to about 175-200 dollars a month. My tires are properly inflated and this thread reminds me, I have to take my car to Discount tire to get the valve stems replaced.

Please search my post titled : A Day in the Life of a Service Advisor.... There isn't a single damn car out on the service lot right now that has the correct tire pressure unless we finished servicing it. And as for tire pressure monitoring systems... PLLEEEEZZSZZEEEE...

Dozens of calls a week: My tire pressure light is on. What do I do ?!?!?!" The same G*DDAMN thing your father did. Go to Pep boys and buy a pressure gauge for $1.99 and check the damn tires. And wouldn't you know it that EVERY damn person that calls about it, DRIVES ALL THE WAY HERE for us to check the tire pressure. "Well I checked them and they're fine." DID YOU CHECK THE SPARE ?!?!?!?!?! And almost every single person comes in with their Ipod, texting on their Blackberry or IPhone.. They can navigate the f**k outta those but have no clue how to read the car's manual to navigate IT....

Personal responsibility ?!?!? Yeah right..

Hey AdvisorGuy, I'm with you! Just today I had a client drive over twenty miles so I could turn up the volume of the NAVI voice prompts. I tried to talk her through it but she got pi$$ed off and said she was coming in. When I showed her how easy it was to do, she got even more pi$$ed!!! Can you believe that? I wonder how some people survive in this world when they're completely dependant on others for the simplest things.

Amen.. When one of the other advisors got one of those calls, she told the woman that the info was in the owners manual. I didn't read my owner's manual. That's what YOU'RE for...." I will not share what the female advisor called the female caller after she hung up...

yeah, proper tire inflation IS important.
But THATS his answer to the oil crisis? Yeah, no need for more oil now, just air up those tires and OPEC will be quaking in the sandles. What ever will they do with all that oil that we won't be buying, now?

Exactly. The point is that something soooooo simply can actually save so much. Take some initiative and take 2 minutes a month to check your tires. But it's my GOD given right as an AMMUUURRRICAN to drive with 20 psi in my tires !!!!!

Where are you getting your information? That's not what he said.
