I'm leaning more towards a Trojan bouncing the signal all over the place...and it originating in Nigeria or someplace like that. That's why wrap my computer with a Magnum, it's stronger than a Trojan!

I miss the old days. The ones before the internet. In those days we got real scams, Sonny, I mean real ones! We had to go to our Post Office to pick up real mail from Nigeria. It was on parchment type paper and had ribbons and offical looking seals and all that stuff.

Now you just get an e-mail. Where is the talent in that? Where is the showmanship? Why, in my day (I received one of those 'I need your help with my secret bank account' letters in 1978) we had real con-men at work. Oh, these youngsters today. I worry for the state of our scammers.

I blame the concept of mass production. The world is moving too fast for me. Bring back the real scammers, I say!

I could go on, but my investmetn advisor, a nice old man named Madoff, just called. Now there's a guy that knows how to make money!

I wonder how he does it?

I am very glad that I found this. I am dealing with the honda civic. Here is the ad link http://secure.adpay.com/clicknbuy.aspx?pid=692B3652454A52617151687049612F332F49354C5A513D3D&adid=MLV2817504. Here is the copy of the correspondence between us:

Subject: 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid

Does it run? Is it a gas electric hybrid? Are you really asking $2500 for it? Do you still have it available? Where are you located?

Greetings,

This 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid runs and drives excellent. Its unbelievably clean and excellent condition. The price that I hope to obtain is 2500 usd with shipping and handling included. I am selling the car because my platoon has been sent back to Iraq and I have no use for it anymore plus I want to buy another car in several months.

The price is low because I need to sell it before March 15

You will not have any problems with registration since the car is still registered in US. You will not have to pay additional taxes, just only the price for it. You will get from me the manuals, keys along with all the additional documents needed for registration.

I want to take the opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate, the financial part of this deal will be managed by the eBay's buyer protection program (They are acting like a third party in our deal). Which means that you will have a 10 days inspection period before buying the car. If you want to complete the purchase please send me your full name and address and I will notify ebay that you are selected as my buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.

Please email me soon if you want to move forward and let me know if you need anything else.

All the best!

Where is the car located? I would like to see it before I purchase it? You were advertising on a Grand Rapids want ads site. Do you have more pictures? Is the car listed on ebay? Forgive my cautiousness. I want to be sure that this is 100% legitimate.

Thanks,

Hi,

The car is located in Miami, FL packed and ready to be shipped
As i told you before, the payment will be made through ebay, after you send me your full name and address eBay will contact you with all the details about this this transaction
After you receive the invoice from eBay you will have to make the payment in 24h. After the payment is confirmed will be keep by eBay for 10 days, The car will be shipped at your place after you make the payment and you will have 10 days to inspect it and to decide if you want to keep it or not. If you want to keep it the title will be signed on your name, in case you don't want to keep it. eBay will fully refund you and the shipping company will take the car back at my expenses. But you will keep it because is a great car and is a very cheap one too.

All the best!

Hi everyone
I just wanted to warn everyone that this guy is still out there pulling this same scam. I fell for this man's ad. This is the email he sent me:
Greetings,
This 2005 Honda Accord EX runs and drives excellent. Its unbelievably clean and excellent condition. The price that I hope to obtain is 3000 usd with shipping and handling included. I knew something wasn't right so I started to search his name. The only thing I could find on this name was a Capt. Richard Baldwin that passed away hundreds of years ago. So I keep searching, looking up the division of the army he said he was a part of "USASOLS". Again, I could find nothing. Finally I came acoss this website and found that I wasnt the only one he pulled this on. Thank God I never sent him any money. I did contact the website he posted the classified ad on to tell that it was a scam, but should i also call the police? Is there anything they can do?

Police Report

Why not?

The people who have the resources, manpower and expertise in the U.S. to deal
with these creeps are the F.B.I. Unfortunately,We and our elected officials have
tasked them with Much More Important duties of late.
(Like making sure we can walk down the streets in safety.)

HE IS STILL OUT THERE! Thank you so much for all of you posting what this person has pulled on you. I was recently on a website searching for a horse trailer. Apparently he got tired of just scamming on people wanting cars, so he changed his name & turned to horse trailers. The trailer that he is advertising is worth $40,000+ and he claims he only wants $3600. During our email correspondence a few things didn't add up..In the advertisment on the website the location was Dallas, TX. After I emailed him he said that he was in New York at a military base and the trailer was with him. Then in his second response a few days later he said that he was in Hawaii at another military base and the trailer was with him...Why in the world would someone in the military who didn't own a horse go to the trouble to take the trailer to Hawaii? I thought it was fishy so I searched for his name & didn't find anything. Then I googled USASOLS and this thread showed up! Thank you guys! I REALLY hope that no one falls for this!!

The basic rule that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is not ALWAYS applies.

Scams only work if the victim falls victim to their own greed.

What an idiot, seriously why can't he just say he's apart of some random military division at some place anyone can look up online.

I'd have better luck scamming people out of money!

Amazing how these automated programs seek out keywords in an attempt to scam people on a thread that's all about avoiding getting scammed.....

Medmech,
if he is in the military, he is in AKO, check him out in the listings. Then call the CID about people impersonating officers in interstate fraud.

CID gets paid for checking these out and gets attaboys and AAMs if they succeed.
