Horrified commuters watched as a US police officer shot an unarmed young father dead on a crowded train platform while another officer pinned him face down to the ground.

I couldn't tell much from that video, but that's really bad. I liked the irony of when the door of the train closed, it said "Danger." I don't think that's the kind of danger it meant, but it was apparently quite prescient.

Didn't watch this video but living in the Bay Area I have seen others.

Very distrubing based upon whats shown on the clips. Can only guess the young man had his hands in his pockets or something that made the officer feel his life or anothers was threatened. Both officers did get up and back away for some reason just before the shooting. Hopefully (for the shooters sake) there is more video available from platform security cameras that clarifies the threat....?

The officers involved were BART Police (bay area rapid transit).

BART has handled the incident VERY poorly so far.

Oh yeah, holding a guy down, shooting him in the back and then manhandling him some more needs more information to be understood. And no, they are judging the cop by his actions, not deciding his fate, and certainly aren't killing him.

Yes, I suppose you are right. Why bother with finding out the truth and whether there is another side to it?

Yup, it's too early to tell what happened. Some have said the cop may have been reaching for his taser and pulled out his gun instead by mistake. BTW, this is rather old news, but the investigation is ongoing.

How about something less grainy and more clear? How about the other officer's testimony as to what went down? I never cared for cops myself but even then, I like to have the whole thing come out to trial and see what falls where first.

From the video it looked like he just stood up and shot the guy. Probably was stressed and messed up. Clearly they are only trained to write tickets and bust balls.

Another example of how a police mistake can kill you.

The cop quit, and I think he didn't show up for court. He apparently has no intention of defending himself. Because there is none. Cops are already lying. It won't go to trial and if it does, it will just be more lying. That's the only evidence you're getting. Thinking it was a taser doesn't make it OK. Or accidental. Neither does the guy's previous record or the other cop? Dude jumped on his back and shot him what else could there be???? There was almost 2 minutes prior, the entire scene played out, that's why they can't neutralize it.

You proved this already? Before the trial?

I don't know if he was drawing what he thought was a taser as suggested or whether he drew his weapon to shoot the guy.

I don't know. Do you know for certain that this is an unaltered video? Have you talked to the other witnesses as to what was happening? Again, I am not sure. Maybe the court is the best place to sort this out.
