Lots of BMW guys will say exactly what you said , only about Mercedes Benzes. I dont give a damn about the badge or "pedigree" just that it is a good car.
Well I like European cars, Korean cars can go rust for all I care. They don't have the pedigree. Mercedes was founded before the Koreans knew what cars were.

I think the coupe only gets a 300HP v6 or a turbo 4 cylinder with 200 or so hp.

That is correct. I looked all around the internet and I couldnt find anything with ths SLS in the 420SEL. Unless I have a 560SEL with a 420SEL badge? Whos knows it might be true considering I did buy it second hand. HMM. Know you got me wondering.

Amen to that! Mercedes was founded in 1881 like hatterasguy said before the Koreans knew what cars were. Sorry anyone would prefer to get something worth the money they spent rather than something that costs less, worth less, and will last much less then just getting a Pedigree.

Also, with the Genesis.. They claim it can beat a 7 series and what not, but it's the only thing they brag about. Oh boy, IT CAN BEAT A 7 SERIES BMW!!! So i'm going to go spend a high amount of money for a "luxury" car just becasue it can beat a 7 series BMW by like 2-3 seconds.... They also brag highly about a 7 speaker audio system that only Rolls Royce uses... Which is something else they copied. They don't say anything about suspension, technology, new features no other car has. Why? Because it doesn't have anything worth bragging about.

Maybe the Genesis would be a bit cooler if the Koreans used their own ideas. The center console looks just like a 7 series BMW As does the body of the car and 90% of the interior. This is something I really dislike with all asian car brands. They copy everything. When I have trouble trying to figure out if I'm looking at an S-class or a Japanese car. That's when you know they've gone a little too far and need to get their own ideas.

Overall, it's just like the Mercedes commercial says: "Why pay more for so much less of a car?" So true.

Who cares when Mercedes was founded? What relation does that have to the present day company? Like Aklim says, what have you done for me lately?

Do you expect Hyundai to develop their own audio systems instead of sourcing them like every other automotive company? Every car company copies stuff.

Mercedes has stooped as low as copying Bangle's crappy designs.

Doesnt look like a BMW at all to me, in fact looks more like a Lexus (more generic and less ugly). The only relation to the interior is they both have shifters and one of those carousel buttons.

I think most car companies are by now out of ideas for styling cars. As of now the trends are huge grills, huge wheels, tiny windows, sloped, coupe like rear windshield lines and HUGE curb weights. It's like the finned American car days of yore plus the muscle car horsepower wars put together. I am glad they're coming to an end.

Pretty disheartened with the way automotive styling is going. Miss the 90s.

Ara T I hate to keep going back and forth because i'm sure we could both go on forever lol

So to sum it up, I guess we can say to each their own. I don't like the Genesis and most Asian cars, but you do. Hey, that's cool. It's what this country's all about

P.S. I really like 90's car designs as well

Haha fair enough. Fashion does go in cycles and I guess cars are no different, perhaps there will be nice looking cars like the 560SEC, 300E, 300ZX, Supra, etc again someday. Clean styling without the "aggressive" over styled things we have today.

I agree, all new cars are starting to look the same. I love the 300E design so much and it still looks damn good for today! My favorite is the early 90's BMW 3 series.

Loved that car/design ever since I was little.

That is a nice BMW.

The last good looking BMW before they went ape**** with the "flame surfacing" aka lines and creases going every which way, was the E46 IMO.

The E46 and the E30's are awesome.

My sisters good friend has an E46 and my good buddy wanted one so bad. Was a bit sad when he didn't end up getting it, they're great looking cars. Thankfully not all crazy like you said with the flame surfacing.

Every time I see an E30 in the junkyard I think "what a waste" they're such good cars and look good too. To see them in junk yards makes me sad I almost got one too! It was either a E30 which needed work for 900$ or my 300E for 2,100$. I ended up going with the 300E.

E30s are a blast if their suspension is properly sorted. I drove a beat one and thought it was a POS, then drove one that had just gotten a suspension rebuild and some new Bilsteins. Felt like a 4 door Miata, very tossable and fun to drive.

They are pretty light at 2600 pounds or so. Quite lively little cars...
