E30s are a blast if their suspension is properly sorted. I drove a beat one and thought it was a POS, then drove one that had just gotten a suspension rebuild and some new Bilsteins. Felt like a 4 door Miata, very tossable and fun to drive.

They are pretty light at 2600 pounds or so. Quite lively little cars...

A-la Audi.
I was reading an interview with Ian Callum, and he said the Koreans are just taking others designs and integrating into their own. Audi grille, Mercedes lights and shape, etc. His hope is that one day, the Koreans will finally wake up, and produce a car that's unique to them. He said that their current design is much like the first Japanese luxury cars of the 80s, where they stole design from the Germans.

I remember checking out the gc when shopping for my vw. The interior was super cheap and not well designed. The optioned up ones grew into the shoes nicely though. The sedan is not bad looking, the coupe has always been over styled IMHO. Still, they are getting cheap.

The Lexus LS400 was the best copy ever made. Certainly a better successor to the 126 than the 140.

A friend of mine purchased a new 2013 Elantra in March. I have drove it about a 200 miles and I must say that overall it is a nice car. Here are a few comments on it:
1. As with most modern FWD small cars I have rode/driven when you are on fine smooth pavement the car is quiet, but every slight seam in the road is heard. Too much road noise. I wonder would $200 more in most cars cover dampening/insulating this noise? If so DO IT!!!!! 2. In the time I drove it the handling and braking were great. No complaints. Power is adequate. Not a dog, but not a power house. This car was built with fuel economy in mind and it does deliver on that. 3. Heat and AC controls easy to see, understand, and use. The heater control and fan knob feel a bit cheap when turned, but I do not know if it affects their longevity. The layout of the controls for the most part is nice. I don't care for the light switch on the end of a stalk. Same with the wipers on a stalk that is on the right side of the wheel. Perhaps I am just too used to makes that are combined into the turn signal. 4. Plenty of rear seat leg room. The bolsters in the rear seats are heated. The backs are not heated. I suspect that is due to the fact that the seats fold down. 5. Great fuel economy, however, the tank is only 12.6 gallons. I would much prefer if it could be 3-4 gallons larger. 6. Aside from anything I have mentioned the build quality and operation of levers/switches/handles/etc. have a very nice feel. 7. The "moon roof" is the typical small escape hatch that all cars seem to have today. Much smaller than those found on a W123 and W126. All in all I have to admit that it is difficult to knock the car down. Knit-pick, sure, but anyone can do that all day about any car. I do prefer this Elantra over the 2011 Ford Fusions that we have for company cars.

Hyunday has something to prove, MB not so much anymore. They sell a badge. MB fanboys laughed at Lexus when they first came out.

MB is still good with leading in many ways, just that today many others are good at keeping just a few steps behind.

I rented a Hyundai Genesis two weeks ago for the first time.
Drove it from Chicago to Lombard, IL and back. I was blown away. It was a quiet, refined, and powerful car. It was shockingly fast. The seat of the pants impression is that it was as fast as my E430. It has every luxury appointment you can imagine: heated seats, navigation, satellite radio, bluetooth phone connectivity with bluetooth streaming of music to head unit, heated seats, etc. I won't comment on the aesthetics other than it looked like a high-end luxury car. I would suggest everyone that has posted an opinion on this thread to go out and drive one and report back on your impression of the car. I think your opinion will change.

Next time I'm authorized a rental car, I'll see what I can get. Last time my only request was "No General Motors products". I wound up with a Kia Forte that I wasn't expecting to like, but I did.
