What happened to the OD forum?

Wow...
Seven out of the top ten current threads here are in some form or another, folk geeze’n about our government and how they/we are all either getting screwed, or are for sure about to get screwed.

The way it’s looking: Either our government has nothing better to do than make everyone’s life as miserable as possible. Or, there’s a lot of close minded folk here that don’t have anything better to do than to sit around finding something to ***** about.

I used to look forward to coming to the Forum, but there’s no more luster on it.

I used to enjoy it when Bonehead was here. MikeMed (?) and that goofy kid from Rutgers, and yes the Pella window guy and his arguments. Nick the trucker with his home arsenal and Lambo collection...
Remember those days?

But now days, the constant whining and moaning about the economy and politics, and this closed mindedness has gotten just plain boring.

Just wanted to do a little *****'n of my own.
Thanks.

They gotta have someone to blame all their problems on.

Blaming government keeps them from having to look at themselves.

If I can blame anyone for my most serious problems, it's my parents ... but even then, I'd rather blame myself, or even just the timeless crux of the human condition. To be honest, the government hasn't really caused any of my problems, specifically. But that doesn't mean I don't want to complain about politics every now and then. But yeah, personally I'd rather read about people's wacky hobbies or pets or misadventures ... I get enough politics where I work and it's really just the same stuff over and over and over.

I wouldn't give up on the forum though ... it is just months after an election, and add to that that it's a party-changing election, and you're bound to have ranting and raving from both sides. It'll die down.

In the meantime, we should start another thread of pet pictures ... those are my personal favorite.

Hey WVO,

I tried my best to lighten the mood, but there aren't enough mullets, neck beards and underwear made of beef jerky to make a difference.

It was a yeoman's effort, though!

Thanks.

Apparently, folks are getting more concerned about a government that doesn't function for the people. It seems to function only for those who get paid by the government.

That's OK.............you can have your thread.............too..........

Good point, I would only say that our current public arena is sorta unprecedented and a rather lively live show.

BHD was not all bad by a long shot, but good Lord, the way he could work in 'liberal trashing' into the most innocuous threads got old.

A big problem in our politics is the way both sides filter the causative elements of every problem through their partisan filter. Such as the way the current economic meltdown is supposedly primarily the fault of Fannie and Freddie and the demo pols who shoved them down our throat. Vast, vast oversimplification.

One must look for the real truth unflinchingly.

Lets see. We done lost our whipping boy. Congress has a very high incumbency rate so things there are the same. Supreme Court is pretty much the same. What has really changed?

Some people prefer to drink beer, while others prefer to drink whiskey.

We each choose our own poison.

Long Island Iced Teas or Strawberry Daiquiris. Not into Beer or Whisky. Occasionally a Bacardi 151 shot with a mouthful of beer to chase it but that is it.
