Give it a break. It wasn't an issue of arrogance. He didn't have the smarts for it. His officers gave him a plan and he decided that he knew better. Didn't work out did it? What was Bush's term again? 01-08? What was Rumsfeld's term again? 01-06. What does that tell you when someone is FIRED.

THEORETICALLY speaking. If this Jesus was all he was cracked up to be, he would have miracled the situation not to occur. If faced with the prisoner, he could have made him change his mind or at the very least read his mind and see what was in it.

Lest we forget, the appointment process IS political.

We provide human treatment for our detainees because -
1. We are not animals
2. We signed the Geneva Convention, and it applies to how we treat all non-com's and prisoners, not just those of the signatories.
3. It is our law

You don't send the shipment, so I start pulling out your fingernails until it shows up. That seem reasonable? Maybe I just show up uninvited in your office and tell you I don't like how you do business, then I start breaking kneecaps.

OK Rumsfeld is just stupid, not arrogant. He was fired as a political move of the administration, distancing themselves from the ****storm they saw coming.

Yes it is a political process, but it doesn't happen every four years. If POTUS could replace SC members, law as we know it would end.

1. You wish we could be as good as animals. Lets rise above the human level before we worry about animals.
2. Didn't someone post a link where the text said it applies to signatories
3. They have laws against sodomy too. Hopefully they all change someday.

In this case, we have courts that we are both bound by. In the case of the tortured, what court can we appeal to for their conduct?

Like you, he believed in the special forces with their surgical strikes and sophisticated weapons that could hit a certain postage stamp on the wall going thru a window and he thought that these could impress the enemy like you think that if we are nice to them, the good in them will come out. I disagreed with both of you. I don't see people change for the better on their own for the most part. Bet that way and you will lose more often than not. Bet against the human being being good and you win more often than not.

My point is that there is still too much people input. The Prez suggests it and the reigning congress grills him on his views and not his qualifications before they will give the "thumbs up" or "thumbs down".
