I must admit, he would give great patient care IMHO, he runs a department at a V.A. hospital to this day. And retired a Major with the U.S. Army.

I'm just not pleased with the way he's treated our family.......make it rough on Mom and Dad when they were aged.
Just because you study well and take tests well doesn't mean you will be a great MD or give good patient care.

Well, you can have my brother. I'm still waiting to hear he got run over by a truck.

PM me and send me your address so I can send you some lures. I can't use all of them, my dad gave them to people so they could enjoy them, now you can too.

Time for you to gather your strength, put on your shoes and go fishing.

I have to tell this, it happened today, just kinda forgot about it.

I parked the car to get coffee, and a blind guiy got off the bus and was tapping along with the white cane. He was in front of me and got stuck at the sidealk ramp, because they broke up some concrete to make a new sidewalk. I walked to his side and asked him where he wanted to go? He said the coffee shop, I told him I'd guide him, he said just walk next to me and tell me if my hair looks ok. I told him it was fine. He said, when we go inside, tell me if there are any cute women and steer me near their tables.

I laughed and he said, hey, do you know what would be bad? I said no, what? It would be bad if I wasa deaf too, cuz then I couldn't hear them laugh. I can tell a lot by a woman's voice and whether or I not can get anywhere with her.

If this guy is busy on booty patrol while blind, we all need to be more optimistic..

I'll take my life over 99.9% of the ones I'm aware of too.

There's only 800,000 doctors in this country......and with rationed-healthcare coming, we'll need ALL of them, I'm afraid.....

Neat story! Unfortunately, depression is a clinical disease, not an emotional state of mind...otherwise, it WOULD be that easy!

Too bad "depression" is used so loosely otherwise to define mood...it implies a temporary emotional setback that in time, will be diminished through self motivated optimism, or a reversal of fortune.

I suffer through clinical depression myself, and find that the "bouts" are not at all related to the current "state of my world". I refused to succumb to a lifelong regimen of Zoloft or other meds, and choose to battle with it on a day-to-day basis. It can be tough, but I find being engaged in something helps, and I try to limit idle time, as that usually gets the gears turning...

Medication doesn't necessarily mean it's lifelong, it can be of great help to get you going on your way to a better life. I went that route couple of years ago, was too deep down under water.. psychiatrists stuffed me on all sorts of pills until I got a bit clearer. At that point I was able to seek out a good therapist (psychoanalysis in my case). Medication went on for 1,5 years and to the shrink I went for four years. Today I consider myself "cured" in the sense that 1) I have seen my own demons and there's no longer anything that scares me in myself 2) faced the ****ty past of mine, worked through it and got if off my heart 3) got a life without daily underlying anxiety, depression and panic. In a figurative sense I was reborn into a better self. I just wish it could have happened sooner but likewise I am glad that it happened now, not when I'm older.
So in a black humor way I can recommend a depression to anyone if you choose to fight it. The fighting is the nastiest thing you can do to your mind but will make you better in the end..
And for a healthy dose of humor, here's a pic of my breakfast. A cup of Zoloft a day keeps the doctor away??

My guess is your brother has a real problem with honesty. People who feel sorry for themselves aren't the same as people who genuinely suffer from depression.
