That is a subjective comment with no data to back it up.
The counter examples:
Pee Wee Herman, The Three Stooges, David Spade, Owen What's his name, Janine Garafilo, Joan Rivers, etc etc etc

On the other hand, Bill Cosby has an Ed.D from Hofstra University. But Robert Vaughn, the former Man from UNCLE, has a Ph.D. in history from UC Berkley, having written the definitive work on the Hollywood Blacklist as his dissertation.

I'll agree with you if you can prove this, but I don't see any proof, just an unfounded opinion, like "Collies are better (?) then Labrador Retrievers"

This is what aggravates me all the time. I'd love to have a good discussion, but people rarely bring data to the party,

Bot, where are you?

You forgot Pauly Shore, Sarah Silverman and Carrot Top

None of whom would stand as good a chance as a Labrador or Collie at passing the confirmation hearings.

I'd like to provide evidence but nobody has done a comparative dumbness analysis on comedians and actors.
I should've specified decent comedians though, sorry about that.
Comedians for the most part have to write their own jokes. Actors for the most part don't write their own lines.

As for Bot, I think I did a pretty good imitation of his one liners, just on the other side.

Air America was his attempt at counter-acting his interpretation of right-wing radio...

If that was a sample of his "judicial intelligence" - then there better be other "more qualified" choices for the position...

Now, he's part of one of many groups that want to see the "Fairness Doctrine" brought back. And if the MN. election judges manage to quantify their findings, he'll be in a better position to try to ram the FD, again, down the Broadcasting Community's throats.

He's got a political agenda in his head...to me, that alone shows he's not the type of person I'd feel comfortable having on the SCOTUS.

I thing you want someone on the SC that will, at least, give each individual that appears before it, a fair chance on the issues that are being presented.

Not whether the person before the SC is a political favorite or pariah.

I seriously doubt that Al can separate the two from one another effectively to come to a sensible and reasonable conclusion.

Since when has qualification meant much in recent history? During the Clinton era, there were 3 AG nominees. 2 got blown out but 1 got thru. All women. I guess there were no qualified male applicants for the job.

"Obama said last week he wanted someone with empathy for average Americans. Conservatives fear that means the president would consider "judicial activists" for the seat."

No. Air America was a front for a CIA-run air transport company between 1960-74.

Oh, the OTHER Air America.....

First and foremost, WGAS what a politican says? More importantly, what will congress approve of? The Prez can SUGGEST anyone he chooses but if congress refuses to confirm it, well, kinda moot, isn't it?

Second, I would think that someone with a clear understanding of the law is more important. After all we are trying to get a judge in place and not an empathetic or an activist, whatever that means. The reason we get a judge is for someone who knows the law and does not inject his or her opinion, however well intentioned it might be. We need somebody impartial not someone with a leaning one way or the other.

That's what killed Chrysler.

A conversation I once heard in a hall at Auburn Hills between a Chrysler Band 96 (Director Level) and a Moehringen (MB HQ) Level 3 (MB Director Level) on November 12, 1998:

Chrysler: " You don't use diversity very much in hiring, do you?"

MB: "No, we hire a third-party company to sort candidates based on competence. If you survive, one day you'll do this too. Or you may not survive."

Hmmmmm....

Update:
The MB director is retired, the Chrysler director was pushed out to the early retirement pasture.

I still have the business card from the MB guy. The Chrysler woman was my buddy's boss.
