Not sure I follow. If those businesses were allowed to use illegals as they do, how is it different than everyone not being allowed to use illegals? Still the same thing across the board. Now if you say MegaCorp is allowed to use them while small businesses are not, you might make the argument that it handicaps small businesses or vice versa. IF nobody was allowed to use them, what difference would it make? Those that cannot survive, do not deserve to survive whether the are big, medium or small. A business should not be dependent on illegal acts for it's survival.

It's simple. Many small businesses can't earn enough money without using cheap labor. If they charged what they'd have to if they hired Americans, that would be some serious inflation across the board. Even the large businesses would have to do that. Inflation isn't good, especially for a society that loves its stuff.

I can assure you, small or large business or employers will not pay a dollar more than they have to, to get ANY labor under any economic conditions. It wouldn't produce "serious inflation," according to your belief. The market solves ALL economies of scale, always have too.

Nothing's wrong with manageable inflation. The alternative is what we now have, serious deflation. Deflation is much more debilitating to our economy. It's been as much a disaster as Carter's disasterous +21% per annum inflation.
