i feel like people avoid me

i mean, i was at rehearsal for Macbeth today from 10AM to 10PM. you would expect someone to strike up conversation right.

but no, no one did. not only did not one seem to want to talk to me. the people i actually did wan't to talk to, act like i don't exist.

this one girl got yelled at or messing up. nothing big or anything, but she was pretty broken up about it.

so i go over to comfort her, and you know give you a little hug or something. but she take two steps to her left and hugs this other guy who i know she hates.

oh ya, this girl happens to be the one that i have feelings for. and shes my dance partner for the dance show im in. now i feel really awkward.

maybe its just me reading to much into things, but it really seems that people just don't want to talk to me and i am tired of it and i really hate feeling left out.

would anyone like to enlighten me as to how to combat my apparent problem.

i just don't feel noticed. normally that fine. but it gets to a point of being upsetting.

Ahhh man high school... It's brutal in those halls! Dude, don't even fret about it.. Just know you're a great person and who cares if these people don't "want to be around you".. Shrug it off and know you don't need them.. Act like they aren't even there and they're not important, don't give them the upper hand of them thinking you need them..

Pshh then they are people you want to act like they don't exist... Just be your own person and if they don't like you well then that's their problem and their loss... That's how you need to think in these situations.. Plus I mean you won't even remember/care about these people when you graduate.. Believe me... lol

Did she know you were coming over? If she did that was pretty messed up to leave you hanging like that.. Since she's your dance partner just treat her as your dance partner.. Be nice do your thang for the play and thats it, act like nothing ever happened. Make her see what she is missing out on.

I know how it is, I went to a high school that I knew no one at and it was hard the first year... Is there any other extra curriculars that you can sign up for? I was in band and it was like my other family LOL Plus we got to travel abroad and it was pretty cool... High School is crazy but don't let it get you down, seriously... It sucks for almost everyone in their own way... No one has a "perfect 4 years in high school" there is always drama and blah blah blah... Like I said just shrug it off, stand tall and have the attitude that these people need you and you don't need them...

Aw, man, don't torment yourself, it isn't worth it. If this is just something happening at this one event, and not part of a lifelong pattern, it says everything about your fellow cast members, and nothing much about you. Stay focused on the performance requirements so that you don't end up unintentionally giving your dance partner a real reason to be upset at you. Then look for a relationship with someone who'll value your caring nature.

Dude: You're gonna' hear ALOT of stuff behind your back...and so will everyone else...it happens...listen to those who've posted already.

HS is all about drama...and you're in...theatre?

Where can you get more drama than there?

You're in a "developmental stage" right now...and so are the upteen thousand kids around you in that pit called HS...everyone of them wants (screams) to be noticed...just look at how many have tattoos, piercings, ear-plugs, tongue-studs, Kool-hair (Cherry or Grape-flavored coloring) and the like...

They all look the same 'cause they're trying to stand out and be "The One."

You just need to be yourself...and just because you tried to comfort some chick that got yelled at...that could be the reason someone else got bent out of shape and referred to you as a "creep" - they wanted/needed a hug more than they thought the other chick did, got jealous, then started calling names.

Get some thicker skin and realize that this type of behavior is normal FOR EVERYONE...

Think about it for a second...

You see the HS Jock pick on someone just a bit smaller...and you say to yourself "What a ......!" CREEP?

You're getting it! It happens to all because it's part of growing up and the testing of the waters around you.

Get into what you do the best and don't worry about everyone else...if you like theatre, go to some plays, get involved at the local university or community theatre and do some of the legwork "behind the scenes" - and quit worring about what others say...it's more important that they take notice of what you DO.

Standing around and worrying got no one anywhere.

Picking up the shovel and removing the 5hit may not have you "overflowing with chicks" but everyone will notice that when there's something that needs doing, you're the "go-to-guy" to have it completed.

Work on the real stuff and leave the fluff where it's at.

Remember this: Hardly anyone remembers who was responsible for lighting the lamps, but EVERYONE remembers what Paul Reverve did AFTER seeing those lamps.

Be your own Paul...

BTW...let others talk about you and say what they may...don't respond...your actions will speak for you.

"'Tis better to be open-minded than open-mouthed."

Don't worry too much about high school. Easy to say, but really, once you're out, it's over. Post-high school a year or two, and people who were just too cool for school will act like your best friend.

I remember high school....and not fondly. I spent more time talking to my biology and chemistry teachers than I did talking to classmates. I know how very very hard it can be. Don't worry about high school, small fish, small pond. Worry about being a good person. The people who bullied me or wouldn't talk to me generally have a very bad life right now, so in the end I won. Keep your head up.

"The Creep" wow... how original.... Cause these people are suuuuuch perfect angels..

DO NOT let that get to you.. it's so dumb how people still do that, really shows how much class they have, aye? Just know YOU ARE the better person, because you're not the one going around calling people names behind their backs. As I said before shrug it off and stand tall. It's high school, these people really don't matter..

Stay strong...

It's really hard at times to stand up to criticism from other people... it feels like a stab in the back - and it is... they just don't know how hurtful that can be - to them it's just words but to the recipients it can be like a branding iron...

I'd offer this: when you hear those hurtful words from others try to simply say quietly to yourself: "that's not really what I am, no, I'm much more than that". Remember to say it quietly to yourself from time to time - the brain needs to hear the actual words, not just the thoughts.

Strength and honor friend -
James

When you are Mr Nobody, what do you expect? You need to accomplish something before you can earn their respect. Of course, in the meantime you take note of those who snubbed you and return the favor when you have accomplished something.

Lets paraphrase Shakespear a little, shall we?

Is this a hottie which I see before me,
The face toward somebody else? Come, let me clutch thee.
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still.
Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible
To feeling as to sight? or art thou but
A hottie of the mind, a false creation,
Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?
I see thee yet, in form as palpable
As this which now I draw.

Grow a pair and forget about them till you achieve something. If you do, they will come to you. If not, you are nobody. It is that simple.

Like I said, he needs to achieve something quantifiable. Respect, whether it is from your peers, your betters or the hooker on the corner of 5th and Main is EARNED, not given. You cannot respect yourself if you are nothing because you have not earned it. How can you learn to respect nothing?

If he can pull himself up and achieve something desirable, he will have enough sycophants and what not fawning over him. If not, he got what he deserved.
