I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mom, a cousin who was good friend, his mom (my auntie), and my pet for the last 15 years. All in the last year.
Take steps to deal with grief and depression. Both will probably be with you for a while....................................................................................

I am very sorry for your loss. I wish you and your family peace.
I'm 3 days ahead of you in the grieving process. My dad passed on Wednesday 12/30 after spending 3 weeks in the ICU. PM me if you'd like to commiserate or discuss funeral planning.

It is never easy to lose a loved one. He had a stroke and in the first week he was feisty, then he got markedly worse. He did not go in a car accident or a massive heart attack, nor did he suffer for months or years in a coma or in a semi paralyzed state. My boys got to see him and give him a hug to which he squeezed their hands, and he kissed my wife's hand. He was the greatest man I met, and gave me the life I have now. He set the bar very high for me, and gave me the wisdom, tools, drive and motivation to clear that bar. I could not be more happy he and my mother chose to adopt me. Now I have to write a eulogy for the friday service. God help me.

I lost my father in 1998. It doesn't seem like it's been nearly 12 years. Maybe it's because I remind myself of what his voice still sounded like, his towering 6'2" frame. My father didn't die in an accident. He didn't succumb to a fatal disease or even a stroke. He died at the incompetent hands of his physician. A simple medication problem that the doctor had been made aware of many times but dismissed it as 'normal' side effects of Prazosin. It was a meaningless death that robbed his grand-daughters of his loving smile and presence. He would have so loved to see the grand-daughter we bore that came 7 years too late for him to see. I harbor a lot of anger, still, but I channel it through other ways, especially by helping others, if I can.
You, too, can grow from his death. It isn't easy, I know. I felt like the breath had been knocked out of me and it took me months to regain my bearings. It will have a similar effect on you, since you were very close to him. When writing his eulogy, remember all of the great times and build on those. Try to think of funny stories to tell. A funeral is not only saying good bye but it is a time to celebrate his life and what he did for you and the family. Take care and God Bless! |
