My prior laptop (now have an Asus) was an HP with an AMD processor and man, did that thing run hot. In fact, I think the heat had a lot to do with the motherboard's premature demise.

The Intel-equipped Asus, a P50ij, is much cooler. It's a great value, too -- got it on sale for less than $500.

Totally pointless.

Many intel CPU's will not run the XP Mode virtual machine due to their limitations in virtualization. I'd stick with an AMD CPU.
Dang, not what I'd call faint praise. Now I'm going to have to rethink this thing. Better call my IT prof. nephew. I hope he doesn't get tired of me picking his brain.

Dont worry about it, either processor is going to be plenty fast especially with 4gb of RAM. Get whatever's cost effective.. and if you are going to use it unplugged a lot, one with good battery life (heavily dependant on CPU). Check those reviews!
