They pronounce it "Day-oh". Both the a and the o are long vowels.

But mangling a translation is nothing new from that part of the world. Have you ever read the owner's manual from a Honda?

"Don't drink the water in the Battery." I must admit that is good advice, but......

My Kubota diesel tractor manual warns against "radiator fur".

Way back in 1971 I had a Datsun 510, and I bought the Clymer repair manual for it. It was a direct word-for-word translation of the original Japanese. Many sentences required a lot of thinking to understand what they might have meant.

Motor controller for an electric vehicle I own was made in Italy. Same results for the direct word-for-word translation of the factory manual, PLUS all the schematics were still labeled in Italian.

Ford has really stepped up, wish I could say the same for GM and Chrysler.

Prior to Ford's recent improvement, the only domestic cars I could stomach are the Corvette and Chrysler 300. I wanted to buy American so I got a 300 and its been pretty good so far. The rest of their lineup ranges from junk to unimpressive. But I think things will change this year when they finally come out with some new stuff.

That's what you get when you engineer for a price point.

Amen to that. We operate 2 thermal energy plants on the UTSA campus, the original is over 35 years old, the newer one is only 2 years old. Guess which one is now having the most problems with equipment going FUBAR?

I told the plant manager there's a simple explanation for that - 35 years ago, they built the original plant to spec. 2 years ago, they built the new plant to cost.

What's scary is that he completely agreed with me.

Just bought a 10 Fusion, and it seems very good so far. After I buy it I find out it was the M/T car of the year.
