You would have to go to a State Fair to meet people like that.

"'Greater Good". Now there's a phrase that should send cold shivers up your spine!

facial recognition cameras in every police car, 'checkpoint charlie' (papers please), and, if you don't cough up the necessary paperwork fast enough, you will be tazered. it is only going to get worse.....

Agreed.

The only greater good is a new revenue source for the state. Red light and speed cameras don't do any good in helping lower traffic fatalities. In fact sometimes municipalities even lower the time duration for the yellow light so people will end up slamming their brakes to avoid the tickets.

When it comes to revenue, politicians will do anything.

great links, thanks for posting. no doubt money is the bottom line in regards to traffic fines. OUR safety takes a back seat to raising money for the state. and, have you noticed that traffic tickets have become increasingly more expensive?

the system is working.

I just got a ticket in GA. I was doing 80ish and he clocked me at 86. I argued but not too hard. paid out the ticket, around $120. two weeks later with my guilty plea in hand they sent me a "super speeder" ticket for an additional $200, super speeder is over 85, hence the 86 ticket I now see.... bastages

We talked a bit about New Jersey but Ohio was also in the top three and that reminded me of this thread from a few months ago

Ticketing around here is moderately rare....I hardly ever see police clocking in the city, and only occasionally on the highway, they like to go after the super speeders. I had a pickup literally pull out from behind me and pass at about 90 yesterday in plain sight of a state officer, didn't even flinch. I usually go about 80-90mph most of the way between home and work (45 miles each way)...

The illegals need to be gathered somehow. Traffic enforcement is a good thing.

I rarely speed more than 4 mph over. It just doesn't pay - and the tickets are astronomical. I love hanging onto my money, so I don't speed.....unless 4 mph is egregious.

fight every ticket by demanding a court trial...the cost will go up and the state may back off writing so many tickets if cost eats into revenue. plus, you stand a goood chance of the ticket being thrown out for various reasons. fight the powers that be....

Hey, here's a thought, just do the speed limit and you don't have to worry about speeding tickets, works well for me. Funny thing is I always get to where I'm going.
