If you copy to the USB device, remove it, put it in another computer, and copy it from the USB device, it will be the same on both. Also the same on the USB drive.

No synchronization though. If you make a change on the desktop, you'll have to remember to migrate it to the laptop.

OK: When i bought the laptop i also bought a flash drive PNY. I used it to move everything from the PC to the Laptop. Microsoft did not go with the rest. If i plug this flash drive into my PC how can i[ just load Microsoft Works?]

Sorry, but I've never used Works. It sounds like a product that poses special challenges.

PNY flash drives are just fine, btw. Don't think that I'm recommending Sandisk over PNY.

What does Works do? I use Outlook for a calendar at work (part of Microsoft Office), if that's what you're using it for, but it's very expensive and it seems to me not flexible at all unless you're using an Exchange server.

OpenOffice probably supplies what you need also. That's distributed by Sun, works great, and best of all is free.

No, just saying I know about Microsoft Works. A friend of mine gave me his Works cd's. There is a good reason why. It's not a very good program.

I would suggest switching to Open Office.
