Thanks TX. I hope it didn't bother you to be one of those caught in my trap. I think you are taking this with the same light heart I meant it. I think most people did not catch onto my self deprecation in ADMITTING guilt of bigotry. Maybe they missed it because the shoe fit so they had to wear it.

By the definition, very few people miss being bigots. I think with many, the meaning of the word has been skewed over the years due to it's most common uses in context.

I think it all boils down to what is considered, at this time, to be acceptable and what isn't. Kinda like say Free Speech is to quite a few. If I like it, speak on. If I don't, STFU. Doesn't seem to matter if it is a liberal, conservative or someone in between. Take racism. It is a form of prejudice. We try to stamp out the form but leave the main unit intact. Why? Because I have a few sacred cows in that respect. If we fight prejudice, my sacred cows will be killed too. Lets fight the socially unacceptable one. That way, we can go home and feel good about ourselves AND have our sacred cows.

If this is to be the sole determining factor of what a 'bigot' is then I would say we all fall into that category. However I disagree with that premise. I do not believe that someone who says that they hate all pedophiles or murderers is on the same level as someone who says they hate all blacks or they hate all whites. If this standard is to be used I would argue that there are 'good' bigots and there are bad ones. This like anything else is subjective. Society as a whole will be the judge.

And I still think you are a bigot and you're not one of the good ones.

Since we are being so open and honest with each other. I share your feeling that there are different levels of bigotry. I too believe that murderers and pedophiles have to be at a different level than other groups when it comes to intolerance.

Fair enough. Let society be the judge. During the crusades, one side was made up of bigots and the other side was the long suffering party who were only trying to survive. Which side was which? Well, it is obvious. It is the other side as said by one side. During slavery times, who were the good guys? Why, the slave owners, of course. Society was fine with that but some nosy bastards kept trying to help the escapees flee. Kinda like me helping your cattle run off. Of course, the other side too had their version but the society was fine with it. Pre WWII Germany. Obviously the Jews were the bad guys as Hitler, Himmler, etc, etc will tell you. Germany also didn't seem too worried with them being persecuted for no reason. They were scum. So which society are you going to accept as judge?
