I sat in a 2011 ZR1 and found the interior and fit and finish to be quite acceptable.

It also uses the exact same brakes as the Enzo Ferrari.

What would be a persons pick of the old ones that are better than the new ones?

o Would it be because until 1974 or so they had point ignitions?

Some of the older Vettes did have great Classic looks, but there has been technical progression right along. In the drivers seat, reliability, performance or technology, there is no older Vette that can hold a candle to the latest versions.

One area in which I will give the advantage to the early cars would be ease of maintenance, but that pretty much holds true across the board with the progression of most any car.

My $0.02,

The mid-70's thru the mid-90's are fairly forgettable. It took quite awhile for them to figure out how to overcome the emissions-related stranglehold on power and fit-and-finish wasn't anything to write home about. My father has a '66 coupe, unoriginal and non-numbers matching, and there is no doubt that it's raw. But that is the appeal to many, myself included. There is no question that the old ones aren't even close handling-wise, even to a new, base, plain ol' Coupe. The new exhaust doesn't smell anywhere near as good as those vintage ones, though.

Although (not surprisingly) once you get into the $75K+ price range, material quality and attention to fit & finish increases.

I really like the 57's...lean looking and very stylish.

Of course not.

Too bad you can't have the 57 looks with todays technology and keep it simple to work on.

That's where something like Lutz' '62 LS1 comes in!

Although I don't know about the simple part. Maybe carbureted but with modern running gear.

A friend in Florida owns a 57S. It is an amazing car. No other car in on par with it when it comes to luxury. Some people like the RR Phatom better. I dont care for the looks of it. The amount of space and toys in a Maybach are crazy. The interior is no expense spared. Performance wise. Well lets just say for its size it can give alot of cars a run for their money.

Im surprised you think that. The new ZR1's interior I think is a joke. Looks cheap For the price your paying you get the same sterring wheel as a Pontiac G6. The buttons looks cheap. The carbon fiber looks like crap.

I mean there it is...For that type of money your paying alot and only getting performance. There is much more to a car then going fast...In todays world most cars are capable of going fast. lol

I mean there it is...For that type of money your paying alot and only getting performance. There is much more to a car then going fast...In todays world most cars are capable of going fast. lol

It's just a cheap car with a powerful drive train. If that's what their customers want, this is the perfect car. Others will prefer to pay more for a more "complete" package.

I think even the '57 was starting to get too cartoonish, but not as bad as the later years.

If you take a look at Fifties Ferraris you will find strong similarities between the 57 and them. Also the third body style. The second body style is pretty unique with only the split window taking cues from the Bugatti Atlantic.

1958 was a big step back, with the quad headlights, faux louvers on the hood and chrome spears on the trunklid. 1958 was a pretty nasty year in general for GM automobiles.

LOL. I forgot how the 58 looked. Typical detroit, just throw on more chrome and it will be better.
