Post Bleeder Valve Location & Bleeding

Yes, that sounds about right .

Some systems are back filled initially and this can cause all manner of subsequent problems .

Some times I'll have to dismount things so I can position a bleeder valve at the very highest point...

Ready to head out tomorrow early to go to crown point water park for an autocross. It is supposed to be pretty chilly. It will be about 44 f when we run and only will get up to 60. No rain forecast but mostly cloudy.

Post Weather

My buddy from Boston just called me, he says they got 7" of snow yesterday, as soon as the sun came out it melted away .

Driving in the 40's can be very nice ~ I wear a watch cap and gloves, keep the driver's side window open and the heater o low so my toes are comfy .

Raced today at a new venue where there is a substantial hill in the center of the long narrow course. It was a very tricky course with super slow thread your way through places which you might have trouble just driving through in your regular car let alone whizzing, but I got it pretty good I think. I have no times yet.

I had groups of guys around my car all day practically asking questions about it and admiring it. Fun!

I was fifth fastest raw time out of 56 drivers.

In rewinding my runs I believe I could have kept it in first most of the course for sure. I need to get comfortable with shifting on course.

The year Nick Meyers won Nationals he told me he shifted 11 times on course each lap.

That is seriously getting after it!

Question Shifting

It depends on the engine's powerband and the gear box's ratios, doesn't it ? .

Yes but in my case the key is driver confidence.

Yesterday I went up to South Bend, my favorite place to run. I took along my #3 Grandson who is 13 or 14. He has expressed interest in my car activities so I have included him whenever possible.

When we got there he helped unload and so forth and during my work assignment he took my folding chair and watched the first run group. When my group got ready to run I asked a friend if my grandson could ride along with him. He had a spanking new red corvette mid engine.

The grandson thought that was pretty cool and rode along on all six runs.

My running day was disappointing. It was in the low forties so not much grip available. I had sworn to try shifting more on course. So first time I tried that missed and could not get into any gear for an agonizingly long time.

I got in four of 6 possible runs and found I had a flat battery when trying to start for run #5. I missed the best time to run with more heat in the track. I finished 18th or so of 53 drivers.

So I tried to jump it without luck. Several kind competitors helped me out and eventually just loaded it on the truck. So now I have some fixing to do.

I just counted I have made 31 runs on these tires. I will probably invest in some new ones soon.

Yesterday I sorted the wiring a bit and got the battery to charge. I had feared I was due for a new one. I also removed the front sway bar. Today I will probably remove the rear sway bar.

I might run on Sunday.

Do you have just one set of tires? Can you secure a second set with a compound that is more cold-weather friendly?

Just curious, what are you using as a battery/power source? Lead acid battery? Capacitor?

I have one set of slicks mounted on magnesium wheels. I have rain tires on aluminum wheels. It is surprising how much heavier the aluminum is. There is really nothing available which is weather friendly and faster than slicks...that I know of.

lithium. When I got the car it had basically a mower battery. Going to lithium saved nearly 10# I believe.

We ran today at the deep river waterpark near Crown point in. It was an interesting challenging course on a parking lot that had lots of hills going up and down. I put in four runs then headed home to celebrate an early Mom's day. I had new tires. The first two runs the tires felt like they had grease on them. The last two runs felt good but the third i hit a cone. Last run felt really good. I don't know about times yet. 65 Drivers with possibly 20 or so Novices. The car felt good. I had good interest in the car again today.
