We went over to Grissom for an Indy region event yesterday. I had a bit of a problem getting the course figured out but eventually got in some good runs and don't know the official outcome yet but had FTD at a couple of places before it was over. The grandson is very conscientious at being my crew chief. I delegate him to the task of keeping the air pressure where it is needed.

I'll report back when I get the official results.

I am having trouble getting my times from the event. I appear to be down in the twenties out of 112 drivers. Gauging against guys I am usually neck and neck with I think I ran alright.

I'll be running tomorrow at Columbus In. It is a tough place to run. The local guys always are very tough to beat in their front drive econoboxes and such but there is a corner there that I really love. It's long and fast and I can usually get through it very well.

It was a lovely day yesterday with temp. in the 70s and not much humidity. I did not post very good times but felt perhaps I did not drive too badly. I was 22nd fastest of 49 drivers. New tires might improve me 2 seconds so possibly would have been in the top ten with them. I finally decided maybe my tires were knackered. I went over and looked and found them worn to the bottom of the wear checkers, so I'll be investing in a new set of slicks before I run again.

At the end of the day my back played out and I had a devil of a time loading up to come home. I am walking with a walking stick today and heading to the Chiropractor today.

My back is still bunged up. I have reluctantly decided to put it on the market. I will likely replace it with a Miata...or perhaps a s2000.

Your just joining some of us older members. We just cannot handle the self abuse as well anymore. The spirt is there but the flesh no longer matches the practicality.

Married men live longer it is claimed. Probably originally coined by a woman. What is left of us perhaps.

The wife now has knee and back problems. i always thought I would develop these type of problems or semi disabilities first. Kind of really sad to witness it.

She deserves better. Yet it is just part of life basically. Few make it through with no issues .Maybe she will have a knee replacement and perhaps not.

Consider a sky redline or solstice GXP too. Twice the torque of an S2000 out of the box and more hp, lower down. Somewhat limited aftermarket, but they can be made very competitive. I love my sky redline, typical GM interior with amazing engine and chassis, but it looks great. It also came stock with 245s all around which gives you a lot of meat to work with on a small car with stock sizes. Last I checked, it ran in scca A Stock alongside boxsters and s2000s. When they came out, a base solstice won nationals in its class, I am always amazed they never really got taken seriously as a miata or s2k competitor.

How's her activity and exercise regimine currently? Also, body mass index and diet? These ALL combined, play an extremely important role in your state of
health.

Post That Sad Day.....

At least you're getting rid of it before it hurts you and you're looking for another fun car to race....

The aches & pains of aging simply SUCK .

I've been working on one oy my old Motocycles and after a few hours my back is -so- crunchy/painful I can't even bathe ~ I clean up the tools and job site, take 800Mg of Ibuprofen and hit my recliner and pass out for a few hours, when I awake the pair has reduced sufficiently to shower and get some clean clothes on .

Don't ever quit .

My Sweet has rheumatoid arthritis on her left leg, she has a hard time walking many days now .

BTW : a nice queen size bed sheet over the recliner keeps the sweat off it .

Tough day

We went down to Columbus In this morning and got to watch the action for an hour or so. It was one of those days that kept chopping my legs out from under me.
1. I woke up in the night and set the stove timer to get up in time to go. I got a bit confused and set it for an hour too soon (I'd like to blame this on the time change but I think it was just operator error.
2. So I arrived at my son's place an hour early. I just reclined the seat a bit and took a nap until 7 am.
3. Then we took off for indy. I had checked my fuel in my dodge for the day and made sure it was full enough to go and come back. But I took the 250 Ml and it did not have sufficient fuel.
4. So I got off to fuel up on the west side of Indianapolis. After trying to operate the pump five times I discovered there was script with prompts put in an out of the way place. With that info I tried again and failed.
5. So I went to a different pump in the same station and found they required me to go inside. I went to another place.
6. I got back on the highway and stopped the first place showing to have diesel. I got off and found the station had no diesel pumps. So I went across the street to one displaying a price for diesel. But I found the entire station with some 20 pumps had bags over the nozzles.
7. So I got back on the highway again and next time found a pump which worked and filled up.
8. So we got to the event site, parked and got out to look around. We talked to a few people who were glad to see me and my handsome grandson.
9. So they started the event and ran for about 45 minutes. There was a stoppage of the event. These stoppages are common and usually is a scoring computer glitch or something unplugged.
10. After a while the course workers started coming in. This has never happened before.
11. I soon learned that the event was stopped because a course worker had been stuck by a car. No details were available but five emt vehicles converged. I decided to head home as it seemed quite possible there would be no more runs today.

I have never had such a day.

Tom
